Three French Hens — Local services in Wildwood

Update on this review. As you can see below, the owner responded that they were looking into the situation. We have yet to have any communication from them. We have passed the word to several friends and family who also are no longer doing business with them. In December of 2019 Jeanie Hood, owner of Three French Hens, helped us with the design of our living room. We spent much time with her choosing fabric and styles for chairs and sofa and also looking for lamps, tables and many accessories. Through the whole process Jeanie would often say "trust me, and I promise, if you don't love what you purchase, I will take back or replace." In January of 2020 we placed an order for four chairs and one sofa. In March, at the beginning of COVID pandemic, they arrived along with all the other things we purchased from her store. Our total was well over $15K. Upon delivery of furniture, we noticed that the sofa was not what we were expecting in regard to firmness of seat and back cushions and the amount of back cushions, 3 instead of two. We paid another $500 to replace the back cushions and they still were not right. The seat cushions continued to get worse and were not holding up at all. No one who comes to our home will sit on the sofa, it is unusable. We have had other designers look at it and tell us "a reputable company would replace this sofa." Because businesses were closed down, due to pandemic, she promised she would take care of it when things got back to "normal." She kept telling us to be patient and our last contact with her in November was not pleasant. She was rude and condescending and insisted she would take care of it but we were not being patient enough. We have not heard from her since. She will say she ordered what we asked for but since she did not give us an invoice when she placed the order, we took her word that she ordered what we wanted. We also took her word that, if we were not happy, she would take care of it. She has not kept her word and we are out $5300. We just had the cushions replaced by a local reupholster business. We have been regular customers of Three French Hens for several years and have made other large purchases and were not disappointed until now and truly expected her to stand by her promise to loyal customers. Rude customer service. I have lived in Wildwood for four years now and finally made it into the shop. My husband and I stopped in to look at Christmas decorations, we were never greeted or acknowledged by the sales staff. We walked around and were unable to find what we were looking for. But I did see some beautiful candles. So I added them to my Christmas wishlist for my husband to purchase..... Big mistake. He also didn't receive any help, but spent $350 on candles. Wrapped them up, unfortunately they were a mixture of plastic and wax candles (the boxes look identical). I went into the shop to see if I could exchange them to make them all match. My first question to the sales associate was if I could return or exchange the candles since my receipt said final sale. She immediately says yes only the Christmas is final sale. I am now excited that I can get what I really wanted, so I am looking over at the different sizes when the young lady came and told me that since it had been xx days I couldn't return it. My husband purchased them on Black Friday, I received them on Christmas and I was at the shop on Dec 28th. This is when the manager came over and starts to get aggressive with me for no reason, she wouldn't listen or let me talk just said stated no returns it's posted everywhere. I have never had a manager be so rude, I wasn't asking for money back and I acknowledged the return policy when I entered the store. What an experience! I love visiting to be filled with inspiration. The inventory changes daily it seems! The designers really know how to decorate that shop and are super helpful with helping you with your purchases!! Every item I buy from them I just treasure!!! Each item is so unique that you can't find this stuff elsewhere! Better buy it when you see it though! Some pieces are one of a kind and other's fly out of that store so don't have regrets like I do sometimes! I also extremely enjoy my latte upon arrival too! I don't think I could ever get enough of this place! I can't stand the wait for the seasonal decor to come in! I'm always wow'd each holiday and can't wait to go home to put out my finds and kickoff the seasons. Plan to spend lots of time because their is SO much to see you have to walkthru...
