I have had great experience with the Computer Concepts in Yorktown in the past when I lived closer to that location. Since we moved to Toano, I expected just as great service as the other one. I had been experiencing issues with my Mac’s camera lately and thought it was time to bring it in for a fix, thinking it would be simple. As my laptop was out of warranty, I dropped it off and paid the $50 fee to be looked at. Later that same evening, I received a call that somehow between transit from my home to the store, the display suddenly did not light up and no longer functioned— when I had just finished using it minutes before drop off. I came to pick the laptop back up so that my husband could try working on it. There was no signing out of my Mac stating that I picked it up or anything, which seemed odd to me that something as valuable as a Mac is not tracked when it exchanges hands, and I also did not receive a receipt as I was promised upon pick up (I asked about a receipt after paying the $50, but was told it would be sent after I picked my Mac back up). After inspecting the case that was dropped off attached to my Mac (has never been removed since I put it on), which i had to ask for as they had taken the case off understandably before the initial agreement to have it shipped to Apple as it was “flagged” and could not be worked on at the store, I noticed the corner edges were cracked. I walked back into the store and addressed this with the owner/manager Ryan, and he dismissed my complaint of the cracked case (which was NOT when I dropped it off- I would have noticed a cracked case that I had been using daily), which also happens to be in the correct spots someone would have tried to take the case off, and simply stated “I know I didn’t do that.”
Overall, very disappointed in this store’s service. I paid $50 for my case to be cracked, and my laptop to have an issue that wasn’t present when I brought it to them, rendering the laptop useless. Will be taking directly to Apple myself rather than a...
Read moreI was referred to Computer Concepts through Apple's support page for a repair on my iPhone 8 for my phone not charging. I am very disappointed by their lack of customer service. I initially met with Ryan, the store manager who wasn't able to do much.
I wound up needing to come back and I called ahead to ensure they had a loner phone if I sent my iphone in for repair. They assured me they did.
I get there and no one greets me. I see the same guy Ryan walking around in the back but he does not acknowledge me.
Finally someone comes up and runs the SAME diagnostics Ryan had already done, and telling me the same things even after I already explained I had been in prior. Then he tells me they DO NOT have a loner phone I can use and there is nothing they can do. He kept repeating to me "there's nothing I can do" not once apologizing for wasting my time.
why did you not check when I called an hour before hand why did you not check before you made me wait while you run the diagnostics I worked in retail service for 8 years. People there need to be retrained on how to talk to customers.
Then refers me to a store in Norfolk. Over an hour away. I called and that store couldn't even see me for another 3 days.
Thankfully when I went into work someone told me about CapitalMac. Less than a mile away from Computer Concepts in the same shopping center. They immediately helped me and I walked out with a 64gb longer phone within 15 minutes. They promised to have my repaired phone back to me in 5 days or less.
Moral of the story: if you are having iphone troubles go to CapitolMac.
I honestly would not even bother writing a review but the fact that Computer Concepts was so petty they didn't want to give business to CapitalMac and instead tried to send me to Norfolk really left a bad taste...
Read moreComputer Concepts is without a doubt excellent! I recently brought them my 2010 MacBook Pro, which was suffering from intermittent black screen issues. For a very fair price they performed an extensive bench test on my computer, having ran the computer under highly stressful situations for several days as to try to pinpoint the precise problem. Being determined to figure out exactly what the problem was, Ryan of Computer Concepts dug deep and was able to say definitively that it was the logic board. At no point, however, did I feel pressured to replace the logic board. Ryan, in an exceptionally professional and genuinely caring manner, explained to me that I had options for replacing the logic board if I was interested in doing so, which included working directly with Apple. Though Apple was not able to cover the repair under an Apple warranty in light of my particular Mac being 5 years old, Ryan worked with Apple at great length to assure that I would remain a happy customer, and indeed I am -- extremely happy, in fact. Without a doubt, the service Ryan provided me exceeded my expectations by a very large degree. Ladies and gentlemen, this is where you should bring your computer for all your computing needs. They cover all the bases and you will be amazed at the level of personalized service you will receive. I can basically promise you that you too will find yourself writing a positive, five-star review after you experience...
