Iron-Bound Gym — Local services in Williamsburg

I chose this gym from an internet search and from the day I walked in the door to look around, I have nothing but good things to say. The facility looks small, but it is not! There is something at IBG for everyone regardless of what you want, fitness level or age. Some great and friendly instructors lead the classes. The staff is incredible if you have a question merely ask someone is always willing to help. The equipment is well maintained, and a portion is new within the last few months. When I say there is something for everyone, I truly mean that at any time there is always somebody from all walks of life here. There is a nice Cybex circuit: plenty or free-weights, plate loaded machines, and cardio equipment. An area set aside for stretching and abdominal work. A cardio studio and a bike studio and they even have a functional training room. IBG has everything I have ever looked for in a gym. I travel a fair bit for work. I am always pleased to walk through the door there. I have two other large gym memberships I use when traveling. IBG is so much cleaner than those and way friendlier. I am sad my time here has come to an end, or I would be a lifetime member I am sure. Scott (the owner) and his staff genuinely care. There is a legacy to this gym, and it has been maintained through the years, and it shows. I was comfortable here from the first day to the last. If I ever return to the area, I know where I will be coming back too. There is a sign above one of the exits, “Iron-Bound Gym is Fitness Beyond Measure. I had a wonderful time at this gym. I left only because I like to change where I go every so often, but it truly is a place I will miss. Scott, the owner, is wonderful. When I first decided to look into it, I did a tour and got a week pass, and when I came in to use it he still remembered me by name. They have events pretty often, at least pre-COVID, so that made it feel more like a friendly place instead of just a gym. I really appreciate how they handled COVID as well, keeping communication open and giving members options.

It is a small gym, but that's what's charming about it. It makes the environment more personal and friendly, especially with the staff. I was mostly in the weights area, and I almost never had a problem with it being crowded or waiting on something to free up, I would go around 10-11 AM

The pricing is affordable, most gyms are in that price ballpark but they're flexible with options like student or couples' pricing.

I had a really great experience and will miss it a lot!

A side note for any women who ever feel uncomfortable or objectified in a gym: you really won't here. It's a different crowd than big commercial gyms, and you won't have to worry about being persistently approached and gawked at, the people here do their own thing and stay...

I am extremely “Gym-shy” and I LOVE this gym. I have belonged to many gyms in many different cities and this is the only one that I have come to feel like is a family. The very first day I walked into Iron Bound Gym to just ask about it, I was met with a smile and a “staff member” that quickly ascertained my uneasiness and completely reassured me. I was given an appointment to be “introduced” to the gym and the equipment the next afternoon and was given a “week free trial”. The next day I showed up and was met by the same “staff member”. I was introduced to all the different areas of the gym and given a routing (written down with all of the settings for the different pieces of equipment) so that the next time I would come to Iron Bound, I knew exactly what to do to get started. It was only after this introductory meeting did I realize the staff member who gave me so much of their time was the owner of Iron Bound, Scott. The gym is great: well-staffed, well-equipped, quality classes, excellent personal trainers all top notch. However, Scott is the cream of the crop at making everyone feel welcome and like family.
