Was at Belk’s shopping last night. Young African American male came in to exchange a comforter set he purchased in Greenville, NC for his mom’s birthday today. He had to talk to store manager via his personal cellphone. Explain to store manager that he needed to do an exchange, and he was willing to pay the $85.00 difference, & had his receipt. Store manager, evidently, asked him his occupation, along with other questions which I felt was irrelevant to just exchange an item. He stated that he was a student @ NC Wesylan College, and proceeded by answering other questions. The store manager, who never came to assess the situation, finally told the young man that they didn’t accept returns from Belk’s in Greenville, NC. The young man explained that it was the same store-related chained, but the store manager said no. I told the young man to ask for the store manager, and he replied that he was talking to store manager. This has really soured my stomach, and I don’t care to shop there anymore.
Meanwhile, I decided to go to Ross. I noticed a young Caucasian man returning a hat. The store manager, Jerry, comprised with him to find a hat similar to the one being returned so he would be please. Jerry proceeded with next steps, and asked the young man if he was satisfied with that hat. The young man was satisfied.
Wow, what a difference! A “sitting” manager versus an active one. One exhibited professionalism (Jerry), the other-poor leadership (Belk’s). Remember, you never know who’s listening & watching when you’re out in public. The student from NCWC certainly didn’t deserve the treatment...

I walked to the men’s department, right in line, shoe department lady was stacking boxes and said she was not allowed to check people out, I would have to join the line in the ladies department....what? The busy time of the shopping year and this is the best you can do?? I was told due to COVID they had limited help...l layed all 12 of my items down and left...I took pictures and will send them to the home office! This no customer service would never happen when the Belk family...

The girl behind the Estée Lauder counter tonight- well let’s just say you don’t get much worse customer service than she gave tonight, no one likes her cause she is always rude and ill and acts like she is to good to do that job. I walked past Clinique to go to her counter and she saw me and said, “isn’t someone behind the counter- I said yeah but I need Estée Lauder- so she didn’t want to wait on me at first. She said what do you need- I said well I’m not sure of my color right now, it was Ecru- do you think she offered to match me- NO. She pulled out the color I use and then the darker and said this is probably you- I asked for a sample because clearly she was too lazy to do her job!!!! Girl- get yourself together- you aren’t anything but lazy,...
