I'm not terribly disappointed in my overall experience here. In fact I shop at Hannaford more than any other grocer in Maine due to "convenience". My 3 stars is a result of watching all the basic ingredient foods I've enjoyed disappear over the last year or so. Also, the disappearance of the non added sugar products I've enjoyed. Almost every item in this store contains added sugar. Some of the items that contain sugar dont even make sense. Such a disappointment that such an addictive substance is so readily available in almost every product. I know this isn't some small boutique natural food store. So I get that most of the products are over processed chemical rich. Also, I don't mean the over priced organic items they carry. I Just mean basic ingredient foods. There is almost an entire aisle dedicated to candy, sugar syrup based drinks and dog food. Yet the store dedicates a tiny fraction of its space to basic ingredient non added sugar products. But that's how this whole food industry runs anymore I suppose. *update, recent unnecessary store reset is frustrating to say the least. Didn't they just update didn't store a few years ago? Many reviews mention that this grocer is overpriced. Well, I hate to break it to you but this reset isn't free. It will certainly reflect on your receipts. Also, along with this I found the few basic ingredient foods and non added sugar foods have withered even more. They've replaced the sugar free Del Real Carnitas with Kingsford added sugar carnitas. Because nothing screams good carnitas like Kingsford brand right? The funny thing is the Real brand is 1 dollar more and I'd pay the difference to not have sugar in food unnecessarily. Thankfully they still carry Del Real sugar free basic ingredient tamales. I don't imagine...
Read moreThis place is a joke. They got upgraded recently and prices skyrocketed. It would be cool if they could follow any sort of food safety compliance. They have new refrigerated bunkers with out of temp meat due to one of the doors being removed. Food is out of date all throughout the store. They restock their refrigerated products by opening every single door and keeping them open for the entire length of time, putting the food in the danger zone. They withhold product to give their to-go crowd first dibs. They stock clearly damaged, expired fruit and vegetables. The main entrance door in front of the check out stands is shut down and roped off for their own comfort. Come next winter, that same door will be "miraculously" broken again. Groceries are too expensive to be dealing with this level of...
Read moreAfter spending 15 years in Austin Tx, home of Whole foods and Central Market, it's hard to get impressed by floor size. The Hispanic section should be called "L-A" as it's a couple of feet of Goya brand cans. Helpful employees quickly passed me to front manager, who was able to lead me to products on my list that were stocked away from other like products. This store is much improved over the last 15 years, but store planners could go to Austin and see how great an experience going shopping can be. Both Texas chains have in store restaurants with great live music. Did I mention Whole foods has a year round skating rink on the roof? I won't even mention the difference in the number of items available. You don't want to know what you...
