SECOND UPDATE: You know very well that bolts only need replacing if the heads are rounded off or the threads are damaged. NONE of the bolts have EVER been touched. You also failed to address why the factory-applied RTV is still there. It's obvious that the sealant was applied perfectly and uniformly by a machine on an assembly line. Us technicians cannot match the factory application no matter how well we try. The RTV squeezing out was NOT applied secondhand by a tech which means that you and your techs are full of it and did not remove the timing cover. After seeing that you're trying to save face here, I spoke with my customer and will gladly be covering his legal fees. If it were up to me, you would already be tied up in litigation.
UPDATE: In response to the owner, I will not name my client here. Period. Should be decide to pursue legal action (which i advised), I'm sure you will be hearing from his lawyer in small claims. I believe you misunderstood the issue with the bolts and RTV. I was referring to the fact that the factory sealant around the timing cover is untouched and that NONE of the bolts holding on the timing cover or various bracketry/accessories (that would have had to have been removed) have marks from tools being used on them. That means that your "master technicians" did NOT pull off the timing cover. There was no need to since it was not leaking to begin with... You stole money from my customer, plain and simple. You do not deserve to stay in business.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Very dirty business practices. They recommended thousands of dollars of unneeded work on a client's car (like-new car with less than 20k miles). Also charged for a timing cover reseal but did not perform the work since it was barely seeping to begin with... None of the timing cover bolts or any of the hardware holding on the accessories/brackets attached to the timing cover have ever been touched. The bigger hardware like the M8 and M10 bolts are torqued down pretty tight from the factory, the fact that there are no witness marks on them at all is a dead giveaway along with all the factory RTV along the perimeter of the timing cover. I've been a technician for over a decade and business practices like this are becoming common everywhere, especially at higher end European...
Read moreI have to say, the front desk at this shop is cleaner than the board of health and the customers are given a proper greeting as they enter, however I wasn't pleased with a recent repair. I set up an appointment to have my drivers door looked at for an electrical matter involving the door actuator. I previously changed 2 of them on my own and was convinced the issue was with the wiring as 2 new parts are rarely the culprit. I also advised that the drivers rear window would only roll up and down if both the master and drivers power window switches were depressed simultaneously. I dropped the vehicle off and informed the front desk of the 2 actuators I left on the passenger floor in the event they were useful. I was contacted and told I needed a new actuator for the drivers door, which was surprising and a new motor was needed for the rear door, which was another surprise. I was quoted a price for both repairs which was absorbent particularly since I knew the window motor wasn't inoperable, so I agreed to have the front door repair only. I was contacted to pick the vehicle up and once I arrived an unexplained reduction of $70 was removed from the repair bill. When I walked out to my vehicle, the drivers side door would not lock or unlock with the FOB. I was not pleased to say the least. I had to leave the vehicle and ask my wife to return to the shop. As it turns out there was an electrical issue involving pinched/broker wires which I suspected. So the repair which was completed on day 2 should have been investigated on day 1. I wasted money on a new ($200) actuator BUT the rear window that once needed a motor now works as a result of the pinched wiring discovered and repaired. I now have an air bag light that stays on constantly which the staff had to have noticed during the repair. My window tint is nicked which the mechanic denies and it turns out that the $75 discount was because they used a cable from one of the actuators left on the floor. They kept one actuator and had to contact the mechanic to locate in the shop. I really had high expectations of this shop based...
Read moreI brought my car in the morning for an Oil change. Which was promptly done and I would give them a 5* rating. During the oil change JSi discovered that my tires where worn so bad that the threat showed and they needed to be changed asap. I was very pleased to have this kind of oversight and letting me know of this dangerous condition. They arranged the tires and I came back in the afternoon for a change. Again a 5* for the speed. Within an hour the tires where changed and as requested by me they put the front tires in the back and vice versa. Little did I know that on an X6 you CAN NOT do that... This should be known by them and they should have advised. After driving the car home I went to get gas and while refueling I saw that the tires where absolutely wrong as the front tires came out of the line and the rear tires where too far in. The tires CAN NOT be rotated!!! If you don’t know that fact you should have at least seen it... It is clearly visible (the picture doesn’t do it justice....) It was now 7 pm and I can not go back tomorrow tomorrow or the next days I jacked the car up and this is when all fell apart and I found out of the poor job they have done. I almost couldn’t get the screws open as they clearly over torqued them. I needed to use a long extension to loosen all the screws. One screw did not come out and after numerous attempts I finally could release it... It was screwed against the thread. Thus the Screw is bold now and unusable... (picture will be uploaded tomorrow) I have never seen such a poor work to mount tires on a car. I will call them tomorrow and ask for an explanation..
Update: Just received a very nice call and they are very helpful to rectify the screw issue... I will update again and change the rating as soon as the issue has been solved... I am very pleased the way the complain has...
