(Apologies in advance for length) I have a PC that computer shop helped me put together a while back but had never worked. The former shop told me that the "motherboard was probably bad", and having had built the PC on a budget, I didn't have the money to replace that (and who knows what else) at the time... so the project just sat. Recently, I got around to getting it taken care of. I decided to take it to CodeBlackIT this time, because I wasn't that impressed with the first place. It was a whole different experience from the start. The receptionist was knowledgeable and friendly. I dropped off the computer for a free estimate and was told I would hear from them shortly. About an hour later, she called me and told me that the tech had rewired a couple of the front panel connectors, and that it was booting up now. She told me there was no charge for it, but now that it was running, asked if I wanted them to go ahead and put Windows on it (with a key). The price for everything came out to be cheaper than I could even find a key for Windows when I was looking. This place is legit. Laptops Plus used to be a high end computer repair center. It has been several years since I have been there and it looks very junky now. My laptop had several problems and I left it in the morning on a Friday for an assessment. I was told I would have a report later in the day. I got busy and didn't check back. The hours posted show a 6pm closing - I called at 4:30pm and they were closed. I called Monday morning and the secretary told me that the repairman said that a new disk was required. I didn't think that sounded right so I went in and picked it up.

Took it home and all the diagnostics showed zero problems, including the disk. The problems were more serious and not caused by the disk and the repairman obviously could not find the problems.

Charged me $50 for a false assessment. Don't go there, they are not what...
