My experinece with Mooyah was very disappointing, from the reviews I read I was not expecting what I got. I understand wanting to get out on time, but if you are open till 10 pm a complete shutdown of the kitchen should not be shut down to early. I showed up at 935 and we were the only ones there, I could tell by the look on their faces that the back of house was pretty much shut down. I put in our order was asked if this was for take out and I asked how long it would take to make the burgers and fries and was told 15 mins. I wanted to eat in but the atmosphere was not welcoming and I just said take it to go. While we were waiting I noticed 2 cooks looking at me and laughing and ducking down when they noticed, I assume they told whoever else was working and saw 2 more people come from the back of the house look at us and then go back into the kitchen area. When the fries were done I saw the person making them pour on what seemed to be a lot of salt they had to be made fresh as the fry station looked clean and shutdown and no other fries made. I hope this is not the norm as our fries were basically inedible due the large amount of salt added. I felt very unease and just wanted to go. I finally got my order and left because we did not feel welcome by the crew. As I was leaving the crew got some instant karma as 2 more customers showed up as we were leaving at around 950pm. I was excited to visit a mooyah for the first time, the customer service was not a great experience. I do chalk this up to coming in close to closing, and I get that. The burger seemed very salty but still edible and. I do not think I will be visiting this...
Read morePoor meat quality. Burger was full of holes where I could see through it. Potato bread bun was decent.
Simple order of hamburger plain & personal loaded fries (fries + jalepenos + white sauce possibly mayo or cheese I couldn't tell by taste) took 10 minutes to prepare with full lunch staff and I started counted time only after the 1 person ordering ahead of me receivedtheir food.
Ordered hamburger plain specifically mentioned "no cheese no veggies ketchup only" ended up with soggy coleslaw style shredded lettuce and a fresh tomato.
People preparing food looked confused throughout my order. Larger orders after mine were completed.
They gave me a free cup of which I chose "oranic fruit juice" and it wasn't terrible but something I'd give to my kid versus pay to actually drink because of the health reasons. Just wasn't outstanding.
All in all I gave this 2 stars instead of 1 because it was affordable and independent of chain restaurants but if I'm being very honest it was a mix of quality and I likely won't be going back despite everyone being generally nice and friendly.
Even as I sit here, I am more interested in writing this review than I am excited about finishing this meal.
Edit: I have been throwing up since eating here. It's now 9:26 and I haven't eaten anything since lunchtime and only had water. I can't say for sure that it was definitely the food from here but I haven't felt this terrible in a long long time and my guess is the meat was improperly refrigerated and got warm then was refrigerated before cooking again.
Definitely will be going to the doctor tomorrow...
Read moreMy wife is gluten intolerant, and we heard that mooyah had gluten-free burger options. I got two burgers, one of them gluten-free for my wife. I got home and neither one was marked. The buns looked remarkably similar, one of them was maybe a little more dense and the other one was a little bit squishier. But otherwise there was none of the usual graininess that accompanies a gluten-free bun.
I tried to call the store for assistance on figuring out which one was gluten-free, but after 11 or 12 tries, each ringing through until the phone line hung up, nobody would pick up the phone. So I had to drive 25 minutes back to the store.
When I shared the experience with the owner who was working the front counter, he seemed more interested in proving to me how I should just have known which one was the gluten-free bun. Rather than just making it right. He eventually did remake the meal, with both buns gluten-free. Then he stuffed a potato bun in another container so that I could take it home "as reference so I would know which one next time."
All that was needed to prevent this from happening was a sticker or a sharpie. All it would take to prevent me from driving back was answering the phone. And all it took when I got back to the store was to offer to remake it and make sure that the gluten-free was marked. And none of these happened.
I have put in a complaint to corporate because of how much the owner needs some training on basic customer service. I may eventually try another mooyah location, but I will never go back to this location as long as that man is...
