Madison County Chamber of Commerce — Local services in Winterset

We made our way into Winterset as our launch point for the Bridges of Madison County. The staff here is super friendly and knowledgeable. They pointed out some absolute gems on the town square that surrounds the Madison County Courthouse, including The Bakery Unlimited for donuts & coffee, the Winterset Mural where you can take some pictures in themed murals, Quest Haven Books & Comics for our nerdy sons, some shopping spots, and Urban Plate for an amazing lunch. They then recommended that we head to Winterset City Park to see the Cutler-Donahoe Covered Bridge and Clark Tower, both of which were beautiful. While I wish we could have seen more, we made our way to the Holliwell Covered Bridge, Roseman Covered Bridge, Cedar Covered Bridge, and Hogback Covered Bridge. They did not disappoint! Lastly, they recommended we visit the Covered Bridges Winery where we had some surprisingly good tastings and snacks. It was a full day and we appreciate all of the spots that the staff here...

Great effort by those businesses participating in your first “live action” windows! The courthouse was festive, the carriage ride added to the sounds of night, most storefronts were beautifully decorated, and the ones who included real people and pets were wonderful! Those businesses creating action windows not only put the time and effort into their design, they were ALL SO GRACIOUS in sharing their enthusiasm for the holidays with visitors and patrons! I don’t what your criteria is for making it an annual tradition, but please remember it warmed the hearts and brought a lot of holiday cheer to those who attended. My husband and I traveled from IL for the weekend to see Madison County and it's bridges. I'm so happy we stopped in the Chamber of Commerce in Winterset. Leslie was working on Saturday morning and she was so helpful. She made excellent suggestions of things to see. She spent more time then she had to talking with me, my husband, and our puppy Mondo.
