By far, the worst “Chinese” food I’ve ever had.
The egg drop soup broth had an orange color, when it should be clear with a yellow hue. The soup had corn, peas, and carrots in it - anyone can tell you these are non-existent in egg drop soup.
I ordered the cashew chicken, a side of fried rice, and crab rangoon. The cashew chicken was more minced garlic than anything else. The fried rice was short grain, almost like couscous - no vegetables (they likely are what wound up in the soup), and not a HINT of sesame oil. Read moreGot the general chicken and it was really tasty. This is my second time eating here, the last time was a couple of years ago and I remember it being really tasty then too. A friend of mine who lives in Winterset swears by this place and I'm inclined to agree.
Like other reviewers have commented chinese restaurants here in Central Iowa, for some reason, always seem to be kind of dingy/gross for their decor and upkeep inside and this place is unfortunately no different.
With that being said, the food is definitely worth coming for and the lunch special was a great value I definitely look forward to...
