Mi Pueblito — Restaurant in Winterset

10/14 Update: We had family in town and they chose to eat here. To be honest it was even worse than the few times we ate there before. They did update their salsa which tasted good. Other than the food has no flavor. The kids quesadilla is the size of my hand. The nachos barely had any chips on it and were cold. My husbands birria tacos do not look like what they have on their Facebook. They also were barely put on the griddle to crisp up. Overall consensus was there was no flavor for anyone's meal. With being three other tables in there when we were, we had to go find our server to get our check. And once again the prices are crazy. We can eat in West Des Moines for $40 for people rather than $60 here.

I love Mexican and with this being in the town we live in, I am disappointed that we do not go here very often. We have been several times, and it just doesn't do it for us. Not sure about Mr. Woods complaints, as my wife and I visited here when her family was visiting from Japan. We experienced nothing of the sort and had fantastic service along with an excellent meal. You get a lot of food for the price. I spoke with one of the owners, and yes we both agree that it is not like you would find in the heart of Mexican country. Decided to try because I love trying all local food and being how I am new to Winterset - THEY HAD MARGARITAS!! The service was great so polite and tentative. We ordered beef the fajitas and the Texan fajitas and a few margaritas... The food came out piping hot and was good not the greatest I've ever had but good.
