You shouldn’t own a customer based business if you can’t have the basic skills to treat the customers, who are your livelihood, with decency and just basic kindness.
Poor Gen Z waitress (you could tell was in training) came back 2 separate times re my order. She initially told me Yes, they could baste eggs and Yes, English Muffin instead of toast, but they could not do either. NO BIG DEAL if they couldn't. Fixing breakfast is not Rocket Science and I'm Flexible. Just give me over easy and forget the toast (eggs, bacon and potatoes are plenty). She got confused (it happens) and thought I wanted to scratch the total order. When the socially impaired, rude Millennial owner (or manager) brought the food and mine was missing she handled poorly. She came off short and tried to question/finger point about the error. My food wasn't there, why speculate what happened? Apologize and move on. If you can't say sorry about the confusion, just put in a new order which she did. But right after proceeded to whisper for a while at the bar with the Gen Z waitress. What a lousy example for the employees. Made me feel like a heal and all I did was smile and say, that's OK, go ahead and put in a new order. Was the strangest behavior I've witnessed about a mix-up with an order. Just rude with the defensive...
Read moreMy husband and I went on our date night with doubts that this place might turn out to be a weak attempt at hipster in a small town. But it was GREAT. The outdoor seating is lovely and the inside is simple and pleasant. I hate the TVs but I’m not going to deduct for them. They’re just distracting. The grazing platter was really nice and plenty of food us two. The beer selection was very good and I tried one of their craft cocktails, the Pollinator. It was delicious. But the spent grain brownie was an extra special treat that I HIGHLY recommend to anybody who goes there. It was enormous and rich without being decadent or heavy. The prices were also really reasonable. This place could exist in Des Moines’ East Village or Omaha’s Old Market at double the price but it was priced for Winterset. The service was also very attentive and friendly. It was busy but not packed, and they were prompt about cleaning empty tables. I can’t wait to come back and bring my parents or maybe do a girls night. I’m so glad this...
Read moreSimply an amazing experience overall. Visiting for the weekend and was local. Started with the pretzel for an appetizer, the bites were soft and the cheese was good with a little heat. Not the best I've ever had but we're still good!
My husband had a few beer flights as they have a wide range of beers on tap to select. A large variety and would please any beer drinker. I tried a few of the specialty cocktails which all used local alcohols, delicious.
For dinner we had the strawberry chicken salad & mushroom and spinach flatbread. WOW, everything was absolutely delicious. The flatbread had mushrooms, spinach, goat cheese and honey...hands down one of the best flatbreads I've had.
The food & drinks were on point and so was the atmosphere. We got to be there for the most unique entertainment, beer choir.. German music that you get to...
