Review of ski lease program:
I went in two weeks ago to get two seasonal ski leases for my boys. I made sure to arrange a slot online since the website seemed to clearly say that an appointment was necessary. The place was packed when We arrived and it took a while to get to someone with a tablet for checking in. I realized quickly that our appointment had no bearing on the wait time - everyone was there without an appointment and just getting there names into a queue. The online appointment was really useless.
Sadly though as soon as someone sized up my 14 yr old - he said they have no boots in his size and if we wanted skis we would have to lease new ones at much higher cost. I was totally bummed - I came here thinking they would have more high quality choices than the typical inventory of Play it Again Sports. The website lists multiple tiers of equipment but by Nov 3rd there were no options.
We moved onto my younger son who is 12. They had 8-10 skis to pick from but they really were not impressive. I was hoping weâd have better choices - skis that were less than 5 years old and not beat up. They are fine but really nothing better than a typical ski swap. Itâs $140 for the package - not a bad price - but for about $50 more I could have purchased used skis and boots of same or better quality at a nearby used sporting goods shop.
Itâs been two weeks and the skis still arenât ready. It takes me 5 minutes to adjust bindings - why is this taking so long! I have called twice and they just say they are backed up and I should hear from them soon. No guarantees about timing - which stinks because I need the skis for a trip in four days.
Not satisfied with the leasing program so far.
Original review:
Terrific experience today shopping for new skiis and boots. Gentleman was very informative about the various widths, materials and shapes and steered me to a few models along their selection. He started with the lower cost items and then we worked up a few notches. I could get a set of nice skiis and bindings for $599. I actually ended up buying boots though. They didnât have a lot of selection in my size though - size 9 menâs foot. Still we found two options and one felt much better. They heated up the boot liner and installed a new footbed - and that was all done before I had to decide if I wanted the boot! That was awesome service. They offer a boot for guarantee which means they will make other adjustments if I come back with any discomfort. Letâs see how they...
Read moreAfter comparing 4 local ski shops, this store had the most knowledgeable staff and good prices.
*note: google maps will lead you to the wrong location (their old store in Burlington), you have to type in the Woburn address, not just just navigate to Ski Haus.
I'm a boarder who decided to learn skiing as an adult so I can help teach my kids (and because the NE is better for skiing than boarding).
Needless to say, a new ski setup is not cheap and you want to make sure you get it right. Of all the stores I went to (REI, Sun&Ski, Ski & Sport Shack, Ski Haus), this place made me feel the most confident that I was being fitted to the right equipment. Also the prices were better than the other shops. A gentleman named Steve helped me get into the right boots and explained everything really well. And even though I purchased my skis elsewhere, he was gracious enough to mount everything without charging me since I bought the boots and bindings there. No other shop would do that when I asked. And it's worth noting that the other shops recommended boots that were one size bigger, which would have led to poorer performance after I'd broken them in.
Overall impressed with Ski Haus, and would pick them again for...
Read moreThe worst customer service in the world. Had an appointment for 2:30 PM, that didnât matter at all as they check people in with an iPad (even after stating: I have an appointment). Checked in, had my name called for the manager to say no actually take someone else that has waited longer.
Staff then took 2 other customers that came in after me as I waited and asked and was told oh they have appointments and you donât. I did have an appointment to which he just said cool I will take you next.
This was after waiting 15 minutes past my scheduled appointment time (there isnât a point in making appointments, do not bother)
Awful staff, awful service, awful stock skip this place and go to literally any other ski shop
update: I find it hilarious Steve tries to give these long winded explanations (that have no truth to them) about why his store provides terrible customer service in all these reviews, as if it makes it acceptable.
No Steve, thatâs not what happened. You didnât finish helping someone, apologize for the wait, and try to help me next. You continued to take other customers and I was ignored until speaking up. There was no apology or attempt to help. Again skip this...
