I’ve supported Sichuan Garden for years. The gentleman who often helps me is a class act — respectful, professional, and warm. Unfortunately, the hostess on this particular night made it abundantly clear that not every guest is treated equally.
I came in alone for dinner and was told there were no tables and I’d have to wait an hour — on a Wednesday night. That’s never been the case. But I left without complaint and placed a takeout order.
When I returned just 15 minutes later, I watched two women walk in after me and get seated immediately. I calmly asked the hostess what happened — and that’s when the excuses began.
First, she claimed she thought I was part of a party of five. Then, realizing how weak that sounded, she changed her story and said there was a party of five who no longer needed the table. So… which lie is the truth?
Let’s be real: this wasn’t a mix-up. This was dismissal.
Worse than the excuses was how she handled it. I stood there, clearly trying to speak with her. She knew I wanted to talk — and made the choice to ignore me. Not once. Not twice. It wasn’t until the kind male server flagged her down that she finally acknowledged me. And how did she greet me?
“What’s up?” That’s not customer service — that’s contempt dressed up as casual.
I asked, calmly, why I had been passed over. Her response? She rolled her eyes, muttered “There’s no drama,” and walked away from me while I was still speaking. That wasn’t miscommunication. That was intentional.
She made it clear with every gesture, every dismissive glance, and every fake excuse that I wasn’t worth her time. That who I am didn’t matter. That my presence was inconvenient.
And let’s not pretend this was just a “bad night” or “a misunderstanding.” It’s always telling when someone puts more energy into deflecting blame than simply doing the right thing. Her actions spoke louder than anything she said — and what they said was: you don’t belong here.
This wasn’t just about a table. This was about dignity. And she made sure I left without any.
If management is paying attention — the issue isn’t your food, it’s the face you’ve chosen to put at the front of your business. And if she’s reading this: the next time you feel the need to say “there’s no drama,” maybe ask yourself why someone would feel there is.
Because when you treat someone like they’re invisible, that is the...
Read moreAfter a few family members gave us a positive review of this place we decided to try it for ourselves. If you're looking for bland food, lousy service, and over-priced food then I would say try it! We sat at the Baldwin Bar (first floor) near the mixologist. I sat there in amazement watching drink-after-drink being made and was totally shocked by how little liquor was actually being served. They use all these fancy glasses flavored with botanicals, bitters, etc...,and shape the shaved or pearled ice into something reminiscent of a snow cone. Take 3-4 sips and voila, drink gone! I would encourage those who frequent this establishment to actually watch how the drinks are being made. It's fairly obvious that's where all the money is being made at the expense of a good customer experience. I have no problem paying for a good quality drink, but please stop insulting your customers!
As for the food, we ordered the succulent looking slow braised duck breast we saw in the online photos....huge disappointment! Zero flavor and overcooked. The Sichuan Pork Dumplings in Chili Vinaigrette, saturated in oil with the only flavor coming from the chili's themselves. Dumplings were flavorless. As for the crab rangoon, my local take out haunt has it all over this place!
The place is in need of a deep cleaning and renovation. Do yourself a favor if you have to use the restroom......wait 'til...
Read moreThe food was decent but expensive for what it is. Duck breast was overcooked and dry, but the cucumber appetizer and cumin fish were good. However, the service was terrible despite the other positive reviews about this restaurant that we read. The hostess had an attitude the entire night. We waited nearly 20 min for someone to help us because the QR code for the menu was not working. Instead of getting a new menu for us, the waiter initially just "recommended" a drink to order. After that drink arrived, he never really checked back on us or got us new menus until he wanted to take the order nearly 15 min later. The hostess acted very annoyed when we went back up to the front to ask for a physical menu or new QR code. After the waiter took our order, he did not return but hung out with other tables the entire night that he obviously preferred. Somebody else from the kitchen brought the food out to us, while he stayed with his friends at the other table. He finally returned to give us the bill at the end of the night. Don't waste your time...
