I understand that consignment shops have to make back the money they pay out plus have to make profit so they are picky about the items they choose to buy... however, it is ridiculous the amount they offer! PLUS, CLOTHES MENTOR DOES NOT TELL YOU OR PROVIDD YOU A LIST HOW MUCH THEY WILL OFFER FOR YOUR ITEMS!!! This is how they make their money doing crappy business. They sell their items for high prices but will try to give their sellers the lowest buy rate possible!
Perfect example: i brought in teo pairs of Rock Revivals - less than 8 months old, no flaws - perfect condition! These retail at 129-170 a pair!
Four pairs of Miss Me Jeans excellent condition! Retail 99-129 a piece
Two Anthropologie Pilcro and the letterpress skinnies retail 80 a piece
Two MK cardigans! Less than three months old perfect condition
a pair of TORY BURCH BOOTS. Retail 300 dollars!
And 4 plain jc pennys blouses.
They bought everything except for the 4 blouses. 11 total items. Retail value over 1,000. But per consignment value - it would fall between 300-500. Most fair consignment shops pay out 1/3 of the consignment value. So, $160-225 is pretty good! I was expecting at the minimum $100.
What a joke. I was offered, $70 !!! Um, no thank you! You price your designer denims at $25 - 60 bucks! Minimum payout for high demand excellent quality designer denims if they are selling it at that price should be between 8.50-20 a pair! Rip off! I would rather sell it myself and skip the...
Read moreMy first few experiences here were amazing. Great quality and selection of clothing. Overtime the customer service experience declined. Yesterday I went into the store and saw a Micheal Kors small travel wallet (for credit cards and ID), and a small kate spade wallet. The Kate Spade was $30 and the Micheal Kors wallet had two tickets in it, one for $18 and the other for $45. Obviously the $18 is the price I requested, because I didn't think the wallet was as nice as the Kate Spade but for $18 I wanted it. The employee continued to ring me up, but the $18 tag would not scan, so they went in the back to "speak" with someone. They did state that they forgot to remove the $18 tag and in fact the wallet was $45. Did I mention that the "employee" who went to the back, also said she thought the $18 dollars was correct. With my debit card in hand, I was told this, so I politely said I didn't want the wallet. Later that night I went on amazon and found one brand new for $35 and purchased it. Now because of this one bad experience I will not return, so they rather lose a customer over a $30 mistake on their part? YTD (Year to Date) I've spent hundreds of dollars with this store, and have referred multiple people who have done the same. All I can say is I hope no one goes through what I...
Read moreI really wish we could give negative stars here! I called this store this morning, SATURDAY MORNING, and asked if they were buying clothes today. I was told they were accepting clothes all day today. So I drove all the way there (I live 45 min away). When I arrived, I went in lugging my heavy bins of clothes only to be told by the little girl behind the counter that they don't accept clothes on Sundays. I said, "Yes, but it's Saturday and I just called and confirmed you were accepting." And she just looked at me, shrugged, and said, "Sorry. We don't process on Sundays."
This was at 10:30am… on SATURDAY...
SERIOUSLY???!? I honestly don't know why I even bother! Can NO ONE do their job right anymore? How hard would it have been to tell me this WHEN I CALLED??! And who doesn't accept clothes on Saturdays??? Newsflash-that's the most convenient day for drop offs when you have a real job!
Whatever. I'm done with this store. I took my mostly unworn with tags still on designer clothes and just dropped them off at Goodwill instead. For someone combing the racks there, I seriously hope one of my items is the find that absolutely makes their day! I mean, truthfully, I will probably get more for a tax break from Goodwill than Clothes Mentor would have...
