VN Express Food — Restaurant in Lake Elmo

UPDATE #2: For the first time, our meal was so-so at best. The quality and taste of the food wasn't as good as previous visits. It seemed like there just wasn't as much care in preparing the food. We ordered four meals, and each of us was surprised that something had changed. The egg rolls are still great. The Bulgogi Fries were not as tasty. My daughter thought they were dry and had very little sause on them. My Hot Curry Chicken lacked flavor and heat, and the chicken was tough. This dish is usually supurb. The Bun was also lacking something, but I'm not sure what it was. We will go again, but if the quality of the meals doesn't go back to the way it was, we probably will not return. The friendliness and speed of service was still good.

UPDATE #1: We have been here 3 times in 8 days!! The food is awesome. Got the same dishes again, and the buglogi fries - delish! And coffee - mmmmmmm!

ORIGINAL: We tried VN Express for the first time. The little restaurant is clean and neat. The guy who took our order was very nice and friendly. We had to customize our order because one of our kids has a severe food allergy. The owner came out to discuss the order with us and made sure it was free of any allergens. She also personally brought the completed order out to us and showed us exactly which containers were for our daughter. She was very sweet and accommodating. We took the food home, and it was awesome! The Que Viet egrolls were excellent, as expected, as was the chicken Bun and hot curry chicken. We all ate to satisfaction and have enough for lunch tomorrow. We will 100% return and will recommend this...

The cashier brushed aside my requests of no greens and outright telling me it all comes on the side even after I insisted. She sat on her phone at the register afterwards which I understand as a cashier job there's downtime but they downtime could be spent learning what's on the food they're selling to have much better customer service. The pho came out wrong as I assumed it would upon being told it all came on the side but the nice lady cook who brought it out saw my frustration and remade it, some places will simply try to scoop it put but they did indeed remake it entirely and im grateful to them for that. I will have to come back to try the eggrolls or something they're better at because the Beef Briskey Pho I ate was bland. The meat and broth both were bland which led to the noodles being the same. There's much better selections for cheaper that taste much better around the area. I was really hoping for this to be a place close by to eat at regularly for pho.(please don't say it was bland from lack of greens as I've eaten ALOT of different pho and a good pho revolves around the broth.)

Editing review to 4 stars. I believe 2 was too harsh as the cooks did all they could and I should genuinely try the other items before making such a statement. Hopefully other items keep...

So my significant other and I finally got to try VN Express and I have to say I'm impressed. It's small inside so definitely not ideal for bigger groups, I guess that's the reason for express in the name. My other half and I ordered pho, and spring rolls. She had beef and I had chicken and shrimp pho. I had a bottle of water and she had Vietnamese coffee that she said was wonderful. The staff were really helpful and greeted us with smiles.

We were served by Bonnie, even though she was busy with call in orders and helping the cooks in the back she still made time to check in on us. We dined in and we liked what they did with the space. The bathroom was clean and this place has a lot of potential. The one thing that blew me away is that they only have pork spring rolls and I do not eat pork or beef. Bonnie came to the rescue and made me some shrimp spring rolls which really made me feel special.

I can honestly say I have never been to a place that was so caring and eager to make the customers feel special. My girlfriend ordered their wings the next day photo not included because they were so good we devoured them before we had the chance. They have a lot of other things that I am excited to try also, so we will return, thanks Bonnie and...
