My review is for the optical department. The rest of the store, at least in my experience, is great.
Today (12/28/2018) I called the optical department asking if they had frames that would fit my one-year old. They said yes, so I drove down there to check them out. When I arrived with my wife and two kids I noticed they were very busy. They didn’t greet or acknowledge my presence but I thought it was because of how busy they were. More people arrived and I noticed they were all greeted by Lydia with a “I’ll be right with you” that I never received. Didn’t think much of it. I was looking around waiting for them to call me up to the counter when I noticed people that got there after me were being helped. I thought “maybe I need to be by the counter” so I got closer.
My kid needed to use the restroom so I left my wife with the kid waiting to be helped while I took the other kid. I came back and asked my wife out loud “have you been helped yet?” To which she responded “no!” Right next to that lady Lydia. Kids were getting irritated so I told my wife to walk away so they can look at the TVs while I waited. I stood by the register watching how Lydia was nice to everyone but me. Then, the lady I spoke to on the phone, Kelli came back from her break and greeted me and tried to help me. 30 minutes had passed. I know because I sent my mom a picture of my kid trying one of the frames out and i could see the time that text was sent. When Kelli approached me to help, Lydia told her, with an attitude, not to help me because another lady had gotten there first, which wasn’t true. Kelli noticed my expression and decided to help me anyways. She apologized because she didn’t understand I was looking for a frame for a one-year old and they didn’t have what I needed. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to cause a scene but I had to write a review. I don’t know if race was involved in Lydia’s attitude or if I just didn’t look like I could spend the money. I don’t know their sales training and their criteria for helping people and I can’t make assumptions. Maybe she was just having a bad day. However, know that I will never go back to that optical center. Costco in woodland lost my...
Read moreOn June 4, 2024 I walked into this hot mess Costco. My family and I have been Costco Members for as long as I can remember but have always frequented the Elk Grove and south Sacramento locations. I came inside to grab a few things on the day of my daughters graduation and the 1) first red flag is that staff were scarce and when I had found staff they would walk past me even after I loudly said excuse me. 2) I had to ask a sample representative who didn’t know where the item was 3) I then began to check out. At check out my coactivo gift card wasn’t working so the attendant help me to scan in. After scanning me in he asked to see my card which I gave to him and then he walked away with the card and came back empty handed. When I asked him about my card he said I took it. So here I am dumbfounded why my gift card was taken and he was like well when it hits Zero I’m supposed to take it. (Which is news to me because the gift card has been reloaded several times.) He then loudly asks well are you a member? How did you get in the building? I then say that card is how I get gas. Him- But are you a member? Is this how you have been getting in the building? Me- My mom is a member and she got this card for me. Well if you’re not a member then she needs to get you a new card. Staff walks away. I felt so embarrassed and humiliated because I had no idea that was the policy I’ve had the card for almost 2 years and his tone was accusatory. It was such a belittling experience only to then go to and try and grab a cart and to be told oh you can’t take those carts because they are blocking the isle. But there were several other carts behind it. Here I am trying find a cart, while I am holding food in my hands, so I can pick up the hot food from the counter and the staff is just looking at me say inf you can’t take it. After a couple of minutes I return to the isle and just grab the cart because there is no accommodation. After leaving this Costco I have never felt so belittled and dismissed. The staff was rude, unhelpful, and dismissive. My advice to others is don’t go to this location- even...
Read moreRenovated the checkout area since last year. More/easier checkout. Apple 🍎 Pay accepted, but you CANNOT use Apple Card, which is a MasterCard. Apple Pay only works with a Visa logo card. You will be declined if you try Apple Card. My cashier didn’t even know the problem. His supervisor had to come tell him. Food court menu downsized to cheese/pepperoni pizza whole or slice, smoothies and sundaes, hot dog/soda only, and chicken bake. No more polish, salads, turkey sandwiches, combo pizzas, churro. And there are kiosks in front of food court for ordering. Also FYI, membership cards on phone app use a QR code. Display at checkout inside. Gas pumps WILL NOT READ PHONE MEMBERSHIPS. You have to call on the attendant to verify it first. BUT Costco is developing a key fob for your keychain, which will be free, to link a credit card to through the cell phone app, for a speedy scan at a gas pump. Not sure whether you can use them indoors. Already active in Southern California. They’re working on it here. Great idea. I’m used to shopping at Walmart, so the prices here are not great. Same as always. Just easier buying in bulk here, but paying extra for that privilege. If I could buy in bulk easier at Walmart, I would skip Costco. Trying to stock a new freezer for the Biden presidency. Toilet paper limit 1. To be fair, they have better bakery items than a year ago, and my wife loves the meat loaf/potatoes meal, the chicken salad, and some other deli offerings here. And since I’m trying to go vegetarian, the meat department which used to appeal to me, I passed over.
Next visit, I will skip waiting 20 minutes for mediocre pizza at the food court and have my...
