Amazing service, honest, and so knowledgeable! First time there and I'll definitely go to Top Gear for all my bike needs. The long version: I'm not an experienced bike owner/rider by any means and it seemed like every time I rode my e-bike (purchased online because I'm a dummy) it was skipping gears or something. I didn't know what to do and the e-bike company would've charged me $200 for just a diagnostic with their team so my bike sat around for much too long. Then we found out about Top Gear and I brought my bike in to Dennis to see if he could fix whatever was going on. I expected to have to drop my bike off and wait a while before I heard back, but he took it back right there and checked it all out with me. Turns out it was just my inexperience causing me problems, possibly combined with cheap parts on the bike, but he took the time to tune it all up, fix the rear brake that he noticed was rubbing, and tell me everything that could cause problems and how I can avoid them. In the end, he didn't charge me for any of it, even though I took up his time with a bike I didn't even buy from him. We bought two mountain bikes from them, and they spoke expansively about the great service and maintenance they provide to customers who bring bikes back to them for service. We called them one evening to ask if we could drop one bike by for service, noting that we would arrive right about their closing time of 7 pm (we had a flight the next morning and couldn’t come the next day). They said we could come. So we pulled up around 7 pm and the front door was locked. All the lights were on and everything seemed to have been just left where it was. Looked like the guy had locked the door and ditched down the stairs so he wouldn’t have to make eye contact with us - I guess the great service doesn’t extend to 1 minute past closing time. Seriously - just tell us not to come—don’t say to come and then pull a stunt like that. We’d recommend picking another LBS in Bountiful/Centerville if you care...
Read moreTop Gear provided a level of service that no other bike shop in Bountiful was willing to provide. I called every bike shop in Bountiful for a quick, simple repair on my daughter's bike. All of them said they were two to three weeks out and wouldn't even consider looking at it. When I explained the issue to Top Gear, they told me they were equally as backed up, but they would do their best to fit it in if they found it was indeed a quick fix. Top Gear called me the very next day to tell me the bike was fixed and charged me a much fairer price than what I was quoted by the other shops, especially given the quick turnaround time. Top Gear really went above and beyond the competition to make sure a little girl could ride her bike this summer.
