I had a nice visit with the very friendly owner and ordered a couple of take out dishes to give this place a try.
The Naan is fabulous - warm, soft and tender and at a fair price. $2 for plain Naan. Not really large, but really good!
The pineapple chicken was a very pleasant surprise. I've had a lot of Indian food, but this was a first for me, and I liked it a lot. I ordered medium spicy, but it was quite mild. I expect their "hot" would maybe be like a "medium" at most restaurants. Next time I'll step up the heat. I don't expect any danger in ordering their "hot" - it might be just right for me. I usually order 3-5 Stars on a scale of 1-10.
I ordered the Fusion Biryani, which was very tasty, but also a very "mild" version of "medium". It is the most expensive Biriyani ($16) because it is supposed to be a combination of all the other Biriyani dishes, including Vegetable, Lamb, Chicken, and Shrimp. I was really looking forward to seeing how the shrimp tasted, but there was not a single shrimp included. The flavor of the dish was very nice. The yogurt sauce for it was great. But I couldn't help but feel short-changed on this dish, since my mouth was already set on the shrimp that was purported to be included. This slip would be easier to overlook if I weren't the ONLY customer there.
The owner was very nice and the food was good, so I'll give them another try. I am hopeful that it...
Read moreFlavorful, authentic, good portions, well-priced. This place is one of our go-to restaurants over the last couple years. I've literally spent hundreds of dollars here, maybe over a thousand at this point. The food is comforting and delicious. I've had just about everything on the menu over the last couple years, and the Lamb Saag and Chicken Tikka are our favorites. We always order 3-5 different entrees (even though I'm ordering for two people), because leftovers are the bomb. The flavors get even better overnight. There isn't as much meat to sauce ratio in the curries as there could be, but I don't necessarily view that as a negative. Service is fast for takeout, delivery, and dining in. There are other Indian places where some of the dishes tasted better but they were more expensive, or they were bigger portions, but didn't taste as good. Overall, Taste of India is the best for price, portion, and flavor. Warning: as with all ethnic food, be cautious of ordering your spice level. I guess I'd take off half a star for the inconsistent definition of anything over Mild. Sometimes we order Medium and it is like a burning hell in your mouth. Other times it's a gentle burn. We order all our curries as Mild except for one as Medium, just in case the Medium is a rager and we can dilute the spiciness down with the...

My wife and I went in on a quiet Monday evening after a little Costco shopping trip. When you shop hungry, you buy too much food and are then too tired to cook it ;-)
Taste of India is in a non-descript, high-ceilinged, unit in a strip mall, but it still felt cozy and friendly when we walked in. Obviously a family affair, a young boy and a little toddler girl were quietly running around making us smile and feel at home. We ordered a fried vegetable samosa ($4) for an appetizer. Two hearty samosa were almost a meal in themselves. I ordered the vegetable coconut korma (hot spice, $11). Very tasty, and very spicy! I’m occasionally reminded that not all food in Utah is completely devoid of real heat. Very spicy, but well balanced and I definitely enjoyed the curry and coconut flavors. My wife ordered chicken tika (medium spice, $14). Again, very flavorful with hearty vegetables and large pieces of chicken that needed to be cut up to make bite-sized, but were not overcooked. We had one piece of tandoori roti (whole wheat naan bread, $2). It was enough for both of us to help scoop up the bits on our plate, probably 9” in diameter. We also split a tasty, and very sweet, kheer rice pudding for dessert ($4). They serve beer (yea!), but we abstained this evening....
