I'm left to wonder if I was somehow at a different Bountiful Greek Cafe than the one that's received all of the glowing reviews here on Google. Let's start with the positives. Yes, the staff (I assume to be the owner) was very friendly and personable. Yes, the place is cute as all get out. And yes, I felt like I'd found a really neat little family owned Greek restaurant when we walked in. The food on the other hand.... I think restaurants in Utah have to pander to their customer base and end up offering really "safe" and boring food. This was by far the worst Greek food I've had, ever. The highlight of the meal, if you can call it that, was my wife's veggie gyro. But it was barely passable. The tzatziki sauce was okay. the veggies were oily and flavorless. Not grilled much at all. The pita bread was the cheap stuff you'd buy at the grocery store. Which was all fine. Not good, but fine. The fries are okay, but nothing special. At least they do have fry sauce. The hummus is very obviously just a pre-made hummus that I suspect they buy at Costco. Again, not bad per se. But if I wanted the equivalent of what somebody lazy would bring to a work party I'd just go buy a tub of hummus at the grocery store. When I go to a Greek restaurant I at least expect them to make the hummus in house and show some pride in it. This stuff was sub par at best. Also poorly plated, no olive oil on it, no other seasoning at all. No garnish. Just a lame pile of hummus with some cheap, non warmed pita bread triangles. The worst part of the meal was the Keftedes Plate. I was pretty excited to see this on the menu, and given the other reviews and ambiance of this place, I thought for sure that I'd be getting some house made meat balls in a flavorful tomato garlic sauce. Nope. Not even close. These were OBVIOUSLY frozen meatballs, again, probably from Costco. I've had good kebab and good keftedes. This was literally like somebody poured a bag of frozen meatballs into a can of crushed tomatoes with some oil and under cooked onion. No detectable garlic. VERY VERY disappointing. I'm attaching a picture. I think what they did was saute some yellow onion in oil for a minute, dumped in a can of crushed tomatoes and then added the frozen meatballs and warmed it. It was gross. This is very lazy. Don't claim to be selling me keftedes and then do this. Just tell me is frozen meatballs in a bland tomato sauce. The "Greek" salad was pretty lame as well, very very small portion. Cheap green olives and cheap feta. And a portion that barely filled the small triangle section on the Styrofoam plates they serve their food on. The rice was bland and tasted like it is probably also from a box. Nothing special going on there. Super small portion as well. And oily. Just not impressive in the least. You'd be better off going to Greek Souvlaki a hundred times over. This place is just a failed attempt at Greek fast food. I'm honestly surprised they got it so wrong. Judging by the other reviews I can't help but think they've just dumbed it down to pander to the clientele in Bountiful. It's a shame that they have to do that. And it's a shame...
Read moreListen, if you enjoy life, happiness, and anything else pleasant, then you gotta try this Greek feed. I'm telling you. The two brothers in this place have the Greek feed down to a science. They'll make special combos for you. These two boys know one very important English word... "yes." Oh.... you desire a side of their homemade, so delish fries, do you? Well... "Yes, you can!" What's that? "Yes, we can make you a combo with gyro meat, rice and salad." My goodness... they'll even give you a whole container of their special Greek magic sauce. A sauce that will forever change your life. You'll go home and want to do something radical after eating it. Like, go home and switch sides of the bed with your partner... for ever! Things like organizing the garage will become second nature. Give this...
Read moreWe started eating here during the pandemic while they were located on Main Street in Bountiful and followed them to 500 West when they moved. We love the new place, it being in a much newer, cleaner and a much larger building than the hole in the wall on Main Street. The food and service is still great, but parking and the table area is much easier to find a place to park and sit.
The Gyros here are the best we have found in Davis County as we have tried most of the Greek Restaurants in the county. The place is always clean with the staff taking good care of the dining area wiping down tables and sweeping the floor often. I drive a pickup truck and can always find an easy spot to park my truck either in front or occasionally in back of the building if they are crowded. Very polite and...
