The in my go-to antique store in Lake/Mchenry County since the Gurnee Antique Market closed. This place is large with an impressive range of item type/size/price. The staff is always the same and extremely helpful. They have an absolutely knock out record collection; far better than even any record stores in the area. I am writing this review as I listen to my promo edition of Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here in perfect condition that I bought today. I went there specifically for this record. I called on Saturday and they said to come in on Monday; they thought they had a copy. They priced it for me extremely fairly and while I was roaming I found an amazing piece of studio pottery by a local McHenry potter; a fantastic piece! I was going to buy the record online but I got a better deal and got it faster by shopping local. I promise if you look hard enough you will find something you like at this shop. Others comment on the prices being high. Look, they aren’t flea market prices. Most items are priced at or near market; you are likely not going to find a STEAL here. That’s ok! It’s not that kind of place. It’s more of a “quality items at a fair price” kind of place. This goes for all antique malls: If you see something you like and you think it it priced too high, ask them to call the dealer and see if they will take $x for it. You will be surprised how many times you can work something out. Just don’t go in expecting something amazing for nothing and you will be very pleased. You will have to drive to Broadway Antique Market in the city to find the next closest place that is of similar quality. However the uniqueness of the slot machine area at Roscoe makes this one a real standout. The layout is perfect, the people are great. Support local shops like this. If you don’t, they won’t be here for long and we all lose. I could go on and on about how much I love this place. Did I mention I drive almost an hour to get here? I still come about once a month or so. The picture posted here is of my turntable setup playing my new record purchased at RWAM today as well as the beautiful studio pot I stumbled on while browsing. I also am posting a photo of the coolest thing I saw today that I didn’t purchase, a jockey themed...
Read moreThe owners really stand behind the reiteration of authenticity for the items their vendors are selling. If you're looking for an antique, this is a great place! Staff is up and down the aisle with giant key rings, and are more than happy to show you anything! If by chance you don't see anyone with keys, there are switches hanging from the ceiling to call someone for assistance.
When the vendors are there, they can give you a lot of detail about an item. More than likely, where the item was from, what it's for, when it was made, etc.... If an item is sold and pitched as an antique, and you find it's a reproduction; bring it back! Even the best eyes are sometimes wrong. They will take the item back, and refund your money! Again, reputation!
Not the same old, stuff you see in some other places. Come see what's in store monthly, it changes! Large, medium, and small items. Prices do vary from dealer to dealer, but that's to be expected.
A good place to get out for a few hours and just see what speaks out to you. You'll never know what...
Read moreMy husband and I have shopped here on multiple occasions and have found some interesting things. Prices are a bit high for most of the vendors. Today I walked in and was looking at the brochures at the front counter while I waited for my husband to come inside. The lady at the front desk asked me to lock up my purse because apparently I looked like a shoplifter. Rather than leave it in one of their lockers, I ran it out to the car and left it there, along with my wallet. After that, my husband and I continued to browse. A gentleman made several passes as if to keep an eye on us even though I no longer had my purse. On the plus side, there are buzzers around the store in case you need help and an employee isn't following you around. I would like to point out to Roscoe Mall employees that it is possible that someone is carrying a large bag because they have medical devices or something...
