The Bear's Den — Local services in Woodstock

Our family loves shopping at this store every time we come to NH for hiking. We’ve always been greeted with a warm welcome and given time to shop and look around even when it’s getting close to closing time, and because of this we often end up spending a fair amount buying blankets, home decor, clothing and more. Unfortunately on the night of August 5th, our last night before leaving, we were told they would be closing in 10-15 minutes by a young teenage boy in a very offhand way. We weren’t intending to stay long and already had in mind a few of the items we wanted to purchase. As others left, (presumably because we heard how he was greeting them and they felt equally as unwelcome there) we were the only ones in the store and my husband was picking out a few hoodies and I was looking at the wooden vases getting ready to check out soon he yells into the store “ OK, two minute warning!!” as if we were young children misbehaving. I don’t think I have ever felt so unwelcomed and rudely treated in my life. Even the girl who checked us out (her manner was much more pleasant) seemed uncomfortable and apologized as we decided to just get a couple of food items because we were basically being forced to leave. Such a shame that an employee can leave such a bad mark...

Proposed to my fiancee in Lincoln and stayed at Woodstock Inn across the street... we went to this store Feb 2023 and we both loved the wood carvings. Personally I feel they should advertise these amazing wood carved paintings online because of how amazing they truly are. Nonetheless we went back in December and an employee named Eric was extremely patient and helpful and was offering great advice and options because we were looking into buying one of these paintings and there were so many options. Usually, I do not write reviews on Google, but feel that this store truly has great merchandise and great employees like Eric who take the time and help out...

We discovered the swimming spot at Cascade Park right behind this store, and decided to shop for a tube and water shoes for the kids so we could enjoy it fully. Despite the store being crowded (with many others doing the same as us), an employee helped us with a tube he had just blown up, and personally helped to find the right sized water shoes, even checking the back for the right sizes.

He was accommodating, so warm, and kind. Despite the store being so busy, he gave personalized service and was welcoming and helpful - exactly the kind of customer...
