Hello, my name is Emily Acosta, and I just started my online journey at Grace Bible College to obtain my Bachelors of Science Degree in Leadership and Ministry. I currently live in the Lower Hudson Valley, just outside of Goshen NY. I am 45 yrs old, happily married with 3 grown sons, ages 24, and 19 yr old twins. I presently have been working in Law Enforcement for almost 20 yrs in New York City, which is an hour and a half commute every morning with my husband. Seeing that I wake up at 3 a.m. daily; I like to use this time to pray, and mentally and spiritually prepare myself for the challenging day ahead where I serve the public in the Washington Heights Community.
After spending over a year praying for my future goals, and education. The Holy Spirit revealed to me that I should continue to minister to others on another level so to speak! Being a Christian almost half of my life, I have always prayed, praised, and worshipped Jesus at church. However I now also share the Good News of God Word on a more expanded public level too. I currently administer two pages on Facebook, where I write bible based Daily Devotionals. I have been told by my peers, and subscribers on my page that they look forward to reading my morning devotionals, and that I have even inspired them to reflect on their own lives, and their walk with God. To God be the Glory is all I can say! At first, I was surprised by this, because I never imagined that I would have such a positive impact on anyone other than my children and family. I know now that I have been blessed with God's Grace, and ability to speak in truth and in deeds; spreading God's Word to others all over the world. So my initial, and only search for "Online bible colleges" lead me to Grace Bible College. Grace means "Free, and unmerited favor from God". I knew it was my confirmation!
I have successfully completed my first 5 week class. From the very start, I was introduced to my Academic Advisor Yolanda Mendez. She is Absolutely an Amazing person and Advisor. Her professionalism and excellence in communications have really helped me transition easily into my new college experience. Even with her busy work schedule, she finds the time to reach out to me to see how I am doing in my class. She is always kind, supportive and encouraging. I think she probably believes in me even more than I do at times! There is also a wonderful strong support based team of Instructors, and assistant teachers that are available to help you navigate all of the school's websites, and systems such as Blackboard. Even though I have a full-time job that is stressful, along with other responsibilities that keep me busy on the weekends; I am really enjoying my class, the assignments, and discussions with my classmates. I especially like the fact that Grace offers me all the tools and support that I need to become a proficient, and successful student. I truly look forward to my continued positive experience and fulfilling my goal of graduating with honors here at Grace...
ย ย ย Read moreI am finishing up my last few classes before I graduate the bachelors program. I have been with Grace since 2011. I have never had so many issues with a college program when it comes to fees and financial aid. Apparently I was not fully changed for my classes, some where left out. Then I had to pay out of pocket or get an unsubsidized loan, which gained interest because of the mistake. Also, the company they rent their books from is also very difficult. They were late sending me a few of my books for a few different classes and charged me a fee for their mistake, which GBC allowed them to do. When it comes to the class instructors, none of them are on the same page. None of the instructors graded the same, even though they were to follow the same rubric/guidelines. When I went to my advisor and the director of advisors, there was nothing that was done in order to fix the issue. Their word were exactly: "Some are harder then others but look at it as a challenge. This is your eduction take away what you can from it.". Let us keep in mind, the class I had an issue with was a lower 300 level class. My 400 level classes were no where as difficult as this one 300 level class. I also was taking duel classes, where I took more than one class at a given time. Still none where as difficult as this. I did reach out the the instructor and received no reply. Seems to me as the school and advisors do not have the students back when it comes to things like this. Why pay to go to a college like this when you receive this sort of feedback from advisors. I had many other colleges in mind, looking back I wish I chose...
ย ย ย Read moreBeing from the GR area, I wanted my daughter to attend Grace Bible College and looked forward to her playing basketball here....but that has changed!! 1. With the changing of the name from Grace Bible College which is no more (Interesting how in the YouTube vid, they kept calling it Grace Bible College....not Christian University....they are unsure who they really are. The "University" name will attract more people to in turn attract the almighty $$$.) and 2. The unfair, unprofessional and unchristian treatment of Coach R. by Grace Christian Univ. leaders. We will not be supporting this school. Just a couple of examples selling out to the world's beliefs instead of basic biblical, Christ-like values & principles not being the center of Life.... and in turn, Disappointed. Regarding the above post, Grace C.U. wants you reading their reply/response below to believe that the Change in Women's Basketball Coach is because Coach R. was an issue; actually, quite the opposite. R.R. was the most caring, compassionate and humble individual who cared deeply for his players and athletics. G.C.U. leaders saw him caring more about values than the leaders initiatives going after the big money. Again, they are showing their...
