My family and I decided to try out the food at Playa Nayaritas for the first time on Father's day. Since it was a holiday, we were worried that it was going to be busy. Once we arrived, we noticed that the crowd level was moderately okay and our host/waitress seated us immediately. However, in the beginning, the restaurant appeared to be short staffed. Our waitress took our drink orders first, and my sister decided to order agua de horchata. Our waitress let us know that they ran out of agua de horchata. My sister was upset by this but it's understandable (if there's no more, there's no more not a big deal). As we were given our time to order our food, we noticed families that came in 10-15 minutes after us, order agua de horchata and their waitress (different from ours) did serve them agua de horchata. Our waitress took a long time to check in on us so that we can order our food. When she finally arrived, my dad order coctel de camarones, my sister and mom both order filet de pescado empanizado and I ordered camarones empanizados. It took a long time for our food to arrive (as I mentioned earlier they appeared to be short staffed). When it finally arrived, the waitress initially did not include crackers for my dad's shrimp cocktail. My mom's and sister's food arrived just fine. My food was not ready since the waitress never brought it out. In fact, in the beginning she never mentioned anything about my missing food. I just assumed it was still in the cooking process and will eventually arrive shortly after. However, I waited a long time for my food to the point my sister was getting impatient for me and decided to get up and ask any waitress for assistance since our waitress was not very attentive. Turns out our waitress never put in my order and when I finally did received my order it was the wrong one! Eventually my order was fixed and was given my initial request. I will say the food was overall decent and I did enjoy my meal. However, the service from our waitress was poor and inconsistent. We asked for extra napkins which never received them. She barely assisted us and she never even checked in with us about my order until my sister had to search for someone for help. We then decided to just ask another waitress for my dad's crackers since she was more attentive. Honestly, the other waitresses did appear to be working effectively but ours was just looking busy doing a whole lot of nothing (I can't write the name of the waitress since she never introduced herself to us so that if you do decided to go you can avoid poor service.) and because of that the overall experience is a 2...
Read moreVisited Playas Nayaritas for Mother's Day this weekend. There was great music, although the huge speakers are way too close to certain tables, as it was ours, you feel like your ears are about to be blown off, but the space is small so I see why the tables are only a few feet away from the huge speakers. The ambiance is great. Our waiter was nice and patient after having to scream our orders out to him. Margaritas are mediocre, I do not recommend, they taste like Jumex with cheap tequila, they were all out of Tamarindo and other drinks ingredients so Mango Margarita was practically our only choice. I ordered an octopus dish, and it was very well cooked and tasty, and it was a good-sized portion. Coctel de camaron was a big no. There was no flavor there, and the michelada was also a huge disappointment. I think the bar tender was very inexperienced as all the drinks were equally bad. We were turned down from ordering a few dishes on the menu, and we were told the cook who created those dishes no longer worked there, and current cooks did not know how to make the dish. We were also turned down from ordering tacos de asada, with no reason provided there, this seemed very off because it is such a simple and straightforward dish to make, and this was a big inconvenience for the kids in our table who were not interested in big seafood dishes or chicken nuggets from the kids' menu. You would think on a special day like Mother's Day, they would have a full menu available or at least mark their menu to let customers know what is not available before ordering. I have to say my mom ordered a molcajete and she was happy with it, she said it was flavorful and enjoyed it. This, of course, was a huge relief as we were there to celebrate her. Overall, for a first-time visit, my experience was not what I expected. I hope they make huge improvements on their drinks and are better about marking what is not available on their menu as well as putting more effort and seasoning into certain dishes. I completely understand this was a super busy day for all staff, but their dishes are quite pricey, and I expect to have a good meal that's...
Read moreI didn't go in expecting this to be a 5 star meal. I'm not a seafood person and I went on Valentine's so they were busy, and I didn't order a seafood dish which is what they specialize in. Do with this information what you will.
Ordered a "12oz" ribeye. Came out burned on one side. Black. I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked and I understand culturally sometimes it's just cooked well done, which is fine and what I had anticipated. I would have accepted well done. What came out was gritty and burnt. It was also way too small. I was a chef for 6 years, and part of morning prep involved me cleaning and portioning multiple slabs of ribeye for customers for the day. The portion I was given was maybe 9oz prior to being torched. I love to support local business, especially restaurants as I know the struggle. But with the poor quality of food I received this isn't going to be a place I'll be spending money at in the future. My girlfriend and her parents weren't as disappointed with their meals (a seafood pasta dish, molcajete mixto, and another dish I didn't catch the name of. Looked to be shrimp and octopus in a sort of sauce), but did say the molcajete mixto dish didn't come out as advertised on the menu, and aguachiles appetizer we got lacked flavor compared to another restaurant in town that we order this dish from (one of the few seafood dishes I enjoy). I hope they take the time to read this and use as constructive criticism. If they chose to reach out I'm more than willing to offer any suggestions and voice a few other concerns that I don't feel like adding to my current essay I...
