Claimed to be ADA compliant, but most definitely not. I went a week in advance to inquire if they could accommodate a large power wheelchair, in which I was told "yes, no problem". Horrible experience trying to navigate wheelchair through exhibit. However, staff did try to make it easier for us....Scare factor was 0. Felt like actors saw wheelchair and didn't feel comfortable scaring. Staff also talked to my client in weird baby voice, ummm hes a Marine vet with a spinal cord injury, not a child! At one point, was asked to exit one exhibit and enter into another because we were "backing up the crowds". Sorry, shouldn't have told me the attraction was ADA compliant if it wasn't. Terribly disappointing. was really excited when I was told this would be accessible, when in reality it was an accessibility nightmare....no pun intended . The show itself would have probably been decent if it weren't for all the wheelchair challenges and hesitation from actors to actually try and scare us......we wouldn't have come to a haunted house if we didn't want to be scared.
Update to owners response: I'm sorry you see this as an unfair review. However, it is my job to advocate for people with disabilities, and this was my honest review. I would have to disagree that reviews like mine are what limits wheelchair accessibility at other attractions....I would hope reviews like mine would encourage you and others to plan better next time to make this attraction more accessible. I was told 48 inches when I inquired weeks in advance (not 46-48..2 inches make a huge difference) Also told staff that it was a larger wheelchair, and was manevered from behind as my client has no function in his arms to operate his wheelchair on his own. I also mentioned above that your staff did try to make it easier for us. I didn't disregard the effort and I did appreciate that. And Im sorry, just because the hallways are 48 in, doesn't make it ADA compliant when items are placed on the floor narrowing the pathway. (You are sopposed to take your measurements including these obstructions). As far as everything else goes, limiting scare factor, ect....I see this everywhere, not just at your attraction. Educating the public and advocating as I'm doing in my review is the only way to bring change. Most people treat people with disabilities differently than they treat the general population, without intention. I'm hoping to bring awareness to that. I also failed to mention the point where there was a gap in the flooring and the wheel of his 1000 pound wheelchair got stuck in it. It was a blessing we got it out with the help of your staff, but that alone was non compliant. Thanks for your response, and once again, I'm not trying to insult you or be negative in any type of way. Constructive criticism, please use it as an opportunity to make...
Read moreDisclaimer: I have been a haunter for 16 years now, but am not affiliated with the Haunt. Instead I am providing a review that will hopefully help other customers that think they are experiencing issues from a well-traveled haunter’s perspective and how I even encountered what I thought were problems.
The lines and waiting: Yes I did end up spending an hour in the lines on a slow Thursday night for the show before I entered the actual haunts. I wasn’t very happy with this until I put it into perspective. I’ve waited that long on a non-busy day at Cedar Point to ride Steel Vengeance. The line there was easily 2 to 3 hours on their busy days. Why wouldn’t a totally revamped haunt in a major metropolitan area not expected to see those types of crowds and lines too? So what if there isn’t line entertainment. You make the most of it and get to know the other people that are also waiting in line to pass the time. If you want to try to avoid the long lines, go on a less busy night like Thursday or Sunday instead of Friday or Saturday when there will be big crowds. You could always pay extra and get a fast pass too to avoid longer lines.
Flow through The Haunt: Even though I had estimated the time that should exist between groups near the entrance door and tried to adjust my pace inside the attractions, I still ended up close to the group in front of us. This just proves even though haunts might try to even out the flow of groups in the beginning, once they are inside the attractions; there isn’t much they can do about groups bunching up sometimes. Some people go through haunts really slowly trying to enjoy the scenery, which there is plenty of beautifully crafted sets in The Haunt, while others go through at a break neck speed trying to avoid the scary things that lurk inside.
Actors: There is plenty of variety here. From the ones with lots of dialogue that can handle improve to the quick get in and get out types that help keep customers flowing, you’ll find all the right ones that make sense for where they should be in the attractions. Even the animations are dispersed where they make sense in between all the actors. I won’t say they are the best, but they are definitely hitting their mark for being in the right place at the right time for getting good scares and to help keep the traffic flowing.
Scenes: The scenes are absolutely amazingly detailed and provide plenty of eye candy for customers to look at.
Overall The Haunt has definitely set the bar higher for all the haunts in the area to try to match. Of course you shouldn’t base all haunts compared to what The Haunt is doing, but instead appreciate them for what they bring to the table that makes them unique from other haunted...
Read moreGiving this a 3 star because the staff was amazing & super friendly & helpful, but the price of $30 a person seemed abit steep compared to the past of $20 a person, and given we had reservations set at 8pm and had to wait an hour in line. While we were in line there was no staff to make sure of the 6ft distancing rule. Although the floor was clearly marked with spots to show where to stand, people behind us were not obeying the rules. One couple a few ahead of us, had almost got into an altercation due to the fact of crowding out. Then it happened to me and my family. We were standing on our spot as marked and the rude young couple behind us kept inching up on us, & the young man kept taking his mask down. This made me very nervous given the fact we were already in close quarters and he clearly didn't care for others around him. My oldest son tried to keep him back in his own circle by moving forward ahead slowly as to clearly point out to this rude nieve individual that 6ft shouldn't be breached upon. So he got mad and told my son move forward more. My son stated you are to close to us, you need to move back into your designated area or circle on the floor. He was rude and stood right next to my son literally breathing down his neck. As everyone was watching this person do this and attack my son verbally, as well as taunting him i told the young man to back up to his area which he did not and said he wasn't gonna do what we asked. Not a security guard in sight in the hall way. So instead of arguing I went farther ahead through the line and found a actor where the tour was to begin. He quickly grabbed a security young man to assist me. I told him about the rude guy behind us as we walked bk to our spot. The young helpful man who's name i wish I'd got, started to talk to this rude individual. He was very helpful to us and held back the couple causing the problem. So we continued ahead. I want to thank him for being helpful and assertive. I just wish that they now have someone standing inside that hall way to help with this for the future customers. So they can assess a situation like ours before it gets out of hand again. I was worried though out the rest of my tour this young vulgar punk kid would catch up to us, which thank God he didnt. I didnt want him to aggravate us again. Other than that the tour would of been peaceful. But I paid $93 for a night that should of been fun and quiet not disruptive and a verbal attack on us when we were obeying the rules as this person was not. Hopefully you guys at The Haunt take this into consideration for future endeavors. Ty and thanks again to the young man that helped us. The tour itself though was amazing. Lots of jumps and...
