Absolutely awful and RACIST.

This place has severly gone down hill. I have come here a few times with family in the past and had a good experience, what was the difference? Last time was a long time ago, and I visited with my Hispanic family, including my father who knows the staff quite well.

This time I visited with my girlfriend, she is white and I am Cuban and have a very light complexion, I usually order in English when I am out at any Hispanic restaurant with her, and that was very revealing this time.

The waiter barely attended us, had an attitude, and completley disappeared after our food arrived. The food was okay at best, and took forever to come out. In that time we saw two African American couples walk out due to a lack of service.

Okay, maybe it was just bad service? They're probably not racist right? Nope. When we went to the front counter to pay our bill, I overheard the waiter talking about those "stupid gringos" to his coworkers. When I stared at him he smiled, gave a thumbs up, and said "all good friend" while laughing with his coworkers. To which I confronted him in Spanish, informing him I'm cuban leaving him completely shocked and backpedaling "oh I thought you guys were gringos im from cuba too"

The funny thing is, if I had ordered in Spanish, he would have treated us better, thats plain racism, and I have never thought I would have experienced that at a Mexican restaurant, from a guy who was from the same city as my parents.

I will NEVER come here again, and unless you speak Spanish and like mediocre food, I recommend you...

Stinko De Mayo! We wanted authentic Mexican for Cinco De Mayo. Went to Maya Mexican Grill and was REALLY disappointed! The waitress brought us the salsa and chips. The salsa had NO flavor at all. It was like bland tomato sauce. We had to doctor it with the table seasonings to even make it have any flavor.

Hubby ordered a steak wet burrito. It was just ok. I ordered the Asada taco plate done authentically with just onion and cilantro. The meat had NO flavor whatsoever! I mean none! They were the worst tacos I have ever had. Even the homemade salsa that they brought for the tacos was pretty tasteless. I have had so many good, authentic tacos in small restaurants in Grand Rapids. I was VERY disappointed with the tasteless food at Maya Mexican Grill. Oh, and something was floating around in my drink glass.

We complained about the food to the server and she just laughed and asked if we wanted a box to take the rest home. Ummmm no! It wasn't worth eating there, why would I want to take it home?? Then she gave us the bill and told us that we could pay on our way out. No apologies, nothing. Just a laugh and a pat on my husbands shoulder.

So we went to the front and asked to speak to a manager. When I told her about the food being so horrible, she at least did the right thing and didn't charge us for our meals. That was the only saving grace. But what a waste of a day when we wanted a good, authentic, Mexican meal. We will be going back to Taqueria San Jose or La Huasteca the next time we want good...

Before I came to this restaurant I did my research on some of the best mexican restaurants in michigan. This was number 4 on the list and looked very appealing so I decided to surprise my boyfriend and take him there for a mini vacation. Mind you I live almost 3 HOURS away and had gotten a hotel for the weekend JUST because of this restaurant. When we came to the restaurant it was literally the WORST service we have ever received in our life. The food was excellent but we just couldn't get over how we were treated. We were sat and waited for 15 minutes for someone to come and ask what we wanted to drink until my boyfriend got up and ask for a waitress. We never received refills, took forever to get our boxes and when we got a box they only gave us one when we both had leftovers, and the meal I asked and paid for to go was left in the back so long I had to ask multiple people to go get it even tho I went up and paid 10 minutes ago. All in all, very rude, would just walk away when we asked for something as simple as SILVERWARE and not return back until our food was already getting cold. Very dissatisfied and disappointed that the only reason I came into this town was because of this restaurant. I would have gone somewhere else if I knew the service was going to be like this. Would have saved a lot of time, gas, and money. Loved the food. The service, unfortunately, was just not...

UPDATE: contacted them. Was about worthless to waste my time doing that. They didn't listen kept overtalking me. Refused to fix the situation. Very rude. I stand behind my review. If your a family of 5 be ready to give the waitress a 18% tip. My hopes is that the waitresses learn how to really wait tables. We will not be returning that is guaranteed We showed up today mothers day. We was told a 25 minutes to sit at a table. We was okay with that we told them there was 7 but 2 different checks she stated oh that is no issue since you are sitting at 2 different tables. It took us a hour and 25 minutes to even get our food we didn't ask for a second order of chips but still got charged $1.99 for them. Had 2 sit at 2 tables due to state regulations. 1 table paid for their order tge other table paid for their order. So the table of 2 got charged 18% gratuity and the table of 5 got charged 18% but it states only a party of 6. Yes their was 7 that walked in together and we asked to be set close together but we was 2 different parties. They made almost $40.00 in tips and honestly the waitress didn't even deserve that much in tips. The manager is rude when we asked how 2 different tables 2 different bills could they do this. Hope you enjoy that screwing people over cause you will never get that chance again to do it to my family.

This place had charm. Tucked away in a strip mall it isn’t somewhere you’d know was there unless you walked past it like I did. My dish (3 beef tacos) was authentic enough. They give you the choice of “American way” or “Mexican way”. I chose Mexican. I’m comparing these to my local favorite tacos so I unfortunately can’t give them a 5. The beef was ground and appeared to be in some kind of gravy it was very runny. The flavor was ok. I prefer a more loose ground beef or steak. The sides were small but sufficient. The tacos were not served with any authentic Mexican peppers or pickled toppings. I was hoping for some avocado at least. Also to note, it was pretty pricey. Our bill came out to be almost $25 a plate (as shown below). This is one of the restaurants that you’d have to decide for yourself if you like it or not. Overall, it wasn’t bad.
