I have posted photos and completed reviews of some of the stops along the entire Blue Ridge Parkway. Read moreGorgeous drive! Many places to stop and view the scenery at overlooks. Many places to exit if you get tired of driving or need to use the restroom, eat, etc. Lots of tunnels to drive through. Very peaceful. No matter the time of year I recommend a jacket as the elevation changes drastically. At the entrance the temperature was 91°. At some of the higher elevations it was closer to 60°. There are no restrooms or gas stations or restaurants on the actual parkway, so you need to plan accordingly when you’re driving. Read moreAs you leave Cherokee, NC I suggest you take a little detour and travel this section of the Blue Ridge Parkway. As you enter the parkway you begin climbing up the mountains and through a number of tunnels. This is a beautiful stretch of road that is time consuming and will require concentrate as you travel. But the views along the way are breathtaking and the spots along the route for you to pull off and get great photos of the surrounding mountains.
