First time eating here. The place is a little run down. The ladies bathroom was bad. The waitress first brought us chips and salsa and 1 tiny bowl to put it in. Most places give each person a small bowl to pour your salsa in. I asked for another bowl and didn't get it until later when our plates were served. I ordered the lunch #1. A crispy taco, enchilada, beans and rice. The taco was lying in enchilada sauce and was a sobbing wet and limp taco shell! The enchilada had no flavor. Rice was also not very good. Husband had a chicken burito that looked good, but he said the chicken was very tough. The waitress never checked on us again. We even waited for the check, went to the bathroom, still no check. Finally went to register and he said I guess you got no check. He was correct. He was very nice, but we will not return.

What a little gem this place is. Mexican cooking is regional, kinda like eating fried chicken in every state..same chicken but tastes different. This restaurant has Sinora/Sinaloa style cooking I havent tasted since I lived in Arizona and Texas. It was like coming home. Prices are reasonable, staff is very nice, place is clean and not fancy...just a comfortable local restaurant with very good authentic food. I think they have a buffet for lunch.. was too busy eating my chili rellenos and steak tacos on...get this...home made tortillas made there to check it out. Omg...wonderful. Go. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. (Horchata, tequila, chips n salsa, relleno, rice, beans)

This little gem of a place is probably one of the locals best kept secrets since you have to get on the back side of town to find it…with googles help. The staff was friendly & the food was delicious. I ordered a large bowl of cheese dip & let me tell you that it was the biggest bowl of cheese dip I have ever received at any restaurant. We were a party of four & had a tamale, an el pastor taco, beef tip plate, taco salad, and a steak taco. The whole order was hot, fresh & delicious. The waiter also made sure we kept hot fresh chips. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the mood for Mexican food. 🤤😋

My family and I decided to stop in, as the reviews were very good. However, we realized very quickly that perhaps the experience was not going to be the best. We were seated rather quickly, which was greatly appreciated, and our waiter was quick to put our drink orders in! That being said, the drinks arrived 10-15 minutes later, which we found rather odd. We had to find the server to let him know we were ready to order, as he did not come back to check on us after another 15 minutes. We ordered and the food came out in a timely fashion. A majority of the orders were incorrect and had to be remade, which we understand mistakes are made, but it was almost every single dish and there was 8 of us. The food was also very poor quality. The chicken was dry and tough, and the dishes that came with tortillas, did not come with the tortillas. We asked our server twice for an order of tortillas for us to eat with our meals, and did not bring them out until the very end of our meals. I understand restaurants can be understaffed and things can be very hectic during the summer when all families are out on vacation, but we were very disappointed with our experience. I do not wish to discern others away from trying it, but be warned. Y a todos mis hispanos, esta comida no...

I was at their restaurant on Friday for dinner. We were there at 9.15 pm. The server who attended us was rushing us to place a take out order even though in-house dining stops at 9.30 pm. So we decided to place a take out and get drinks while we were waiting for our carry out order. I asked for a warm glass of water to which the server brought one with a dirty particle in it. So I asked it to be replaced to which the server replied ITS TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR. After that I still could see the server taking orders at 9.50 pm at the other tables. We left after tipping good for a carry out order for making up with the server who was dining at the moment. While we got our car out from parking 2 servers rushed out to us to check on us if we made the payment. We had to park the car and rush inside to prove them that we did make a payment. They simply pushed off this episode by saying we wanted to confirm. I mean what kinda of staff rushes to check the payments in parking lots without checking in their system. Purely a case of discrimination and disrespect from the staff of El Cajelito in Cherokee. Not going there again. Purely a disrespect to me and my friends at your restaurant. Poorly trained staff in Cusotmer Service. We won’t be back...

They charged my credit card more than I authorized.

We went to this restaurant on Saturday, September 9th, 2023. The restaurant was not too busy and we got seated quickly and received our food in a reasonable amount of time. The chips had a stale taste to them as if they were cooked in old oil. I didn't say anything about it because it happens sometimes and they were eatable. The food was ok as well, definitely not the best ever but okay. The reason for me to write this review was the credit card charge. When I reviewed my credit card statement, I noticed an overcharge of 3.5%. Upon calling the restaurant about it, they told me that is the fee for using the credit card. As that may be legit or not (I have disputed this charge with my bank) I believe this additional charge would need to be added before they give me the receipt to sign - not afterwards and without my knowledge. The number at the bottom of the credit card receipt is what I authorize, not a penny more. This is questionable tactics at best and fraudulent at worst - misleading and unethical for sure. I will never go to this place again and can only caution everybody to make sure they are not being...
