When I booked my guided wade trip with Riverâs Edge Outfitters I had no idea what to expect. But from the beginning it was more than I expected and worth more than what I paid. Austin, my guide, called me the night before to see what I wanted to get out of the trip which was not something I had experienced on other guide trips I had been on with other outfitters. This was definitely above and beyond in my opinion. When I showed up, Austin was already there and ready to get me equipped for the trip. It didnât take long and we were in the water in no time. Austin was great at explaining how the rod was set up, what kind of leader we were using and what techniques we would be using. I told him my main goal for the trip was to learn how to find/approach fish and I was not too concerned about the number of fish we caught. Fortunately for me, he was able to teach me everything I wanted to learn and put me on 71 fish in 4 hours (would have been around 90 if I set the hook better). Not only did he teach me what I asked but he also critiqued my casting, drift, hook set and fish fighting techniques. He also had me approach a piece of water and tell him where I thought was the best holding spot and why. This really helped hammer home what I wanted to learn. After our trip ended, I went to a different river and applied what I learned and caught 25 fish in about an hour in a river I usually catch 6 all day. Iâm fact I caught so many fish that day I fell asleep dreaming about setting the hook in my sleep and actually slapped myself in the face setting the hook in my dream since I was sleeping on my side. But not only is Austin a great teacher/fisherman but also a cool dude and I enjoyed chatting with him on the water. So if you want an awesome guide teaching you how to catch fish and want to reel in a ton of them while you are doing it, book with Austin at Riverâs Edge Outfitters. You...

We recently had the absolute pleasure of embarking on a four-hour fly fishing trip with Amy and Joy of Rivers Edge Outfitters , and despite the f temperatures and strong winds, it was nothing short of phenomenal!
Neither of us had any prior fly fishing experience, but thanks to Amy and Joyâs incredible patience, expertise, and enthusiasm, we walked away not only with newfound skills but we caught (and released) six stunning rainbow trout! From the moment we arrived, they made us feel completely at ease, carefully explaining everything from casting techniques to reading the water. Their passion for fly fishing was truly contagious, and their dedication to making sure we had an amazing time exceeded all expectations.
Braving the elements was no easy feat, but Amy and Joy kept us motivated and engaged the entire time. They adjusted techniques to match the conditions, provided encouragement at every step, and celebrated each catch with as much excitement as we did. It was clear they genuinely wanted us to succeed, and thanks to their top-notch guidance, we did!
This trip wasnât just about fishingâit was about creating an unforgettable experience. We left with incredible memories, a deeper appreciation for the sport, and the confidence to do it again. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned angler, we cannot recommend Amy and Joy enough. If they can turn a cold, windy day into an absolute blast, just imagine what they can do in perfect weather!
Five stars simply arenât enough for this...
Read moreProviding review based on a recent Aug 26, 2024 interaction with this business. I fished the final Qualla tournament on Aug 24 & 25th and purchased my registration and a $159 fishpond vest at this business. When I purchased the permit, they asked for my drivers license but never asked for my fishing permit. I carry an annual non-resident tribal permit. As a result, they charged me for the tournament registration and the 2 day fishing permit, which I did not require. I returned to the store on the 26th to request my money back and was told they need to contact the tribe to get the 2 day cancelled and a refund. I simply wanted the $17 that I was overcharged. The man at the desk called the owner, who I eventually spoke with and was told I would have to wait until he worked out the cancellation and commented that this was due to me not presenting my annual at the time of purchase. They logged into the very system that shows the permits I carry and should know this. Without taking any of my contact or additional info, he just said he couldn't give me the refund until he contacted them. I promptly returned home to get the vest and returned it. It's a shame that errors on their part are pawned off on customers or the tribe. Selling licenses and tournament registration is a draw to get customers into their location. They may not make money on them but they do make money. This particular business will not make any more of mine and I will offer my feedback to anyone that asks for a local business for fishing gear. You...
