better than most: recently has been better than expected from other food lions stores i had been to. for my most recent visit i was surprised that the customer service met what used to be my simple expectations. many years ago what i considered Unacceptable is today's average . for instance when i worked retail or "care services" (peer support which btw i now realize is wrong and shouldn't be a job but just done free as a good samaritan-long story but the healthcare industry should be ashamed & beyond the scope of this but it's NOT OK in any context to take advatage of the so-called "disadvantaged" as that industry calls it and because they/we dont have money they abuse their so-called "authories" & gouge insurances worse in "health care" but unfortunately across industries I've noticed so ANY customer regardless of money should be treated much better and this hasnt been so and i get furious when people are taken advantage of especially personally) even more pertinent to this review , i would have never talked to or treated a customer the way i have been treated over past maybe 5-10 years so i know better as a person & also worked in retail / customer service & had some very good store managers (Brent Hagar at Office Depot was exceptional for example thanks).
However... not at all other past jobs ,in fact many , had management below standards so i just left for good reasons (they called it fired for "no call no show" etc and didn't know i was entitled to unemployment but it's too late & they were not important anyway) . So in my experience , today's average is not over and beyond but by my standards usually unacceptable and still NOT OK and it is not an excuse just because the "downtrodden" have been conditioned to be mistreated. In other words what should have been done just for a job they usually don't do & has unfortunately become "over & beyond". People have gotten too used to accepting unacceptable another reason why i resent supply meeting demand the demand isn't good and so quality is too low typically. (at many different places).
Regardless i was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED at the customer service counter for a "money service" during that day's visit at Food Lion in Youngsville NC. Thank you. ps i wasnt grocery shopping that day unfortunately but that IS something meaningful to me that i used to enjoy when i actually had time and good reason for family but i usually only got a chance during a holiday or weekend thank God i have time now but please pray to bring few loved ones back like we deserve ... Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs I have sought out local fruits to buy, I was pleasantly surprised with the nice, fresh local fruit that Food Lion had to offer. You had to look for them though. As I expect the priority would be for the fruits/vegetables in mass but there was a decent sized display right when I went into the store. There I found the most delicious fresh peaches you could ask for. And since I was canning fruit, this was a treasure. I felt the pricing was well worth it. The fruits were juicy and ripe. I bought peaches from 3 Local Farmers as it turned out. Rhodesdale Farm, Yellow Peaches, Kings Mountain NC - So Good!! Deal Orchards, Yellow Peaches, Taylorsville, NC (Got to Be NC Produce) - Very Good also!! Owensby Orchards, Local NC Gala Apples, Hendersonville, NC - These apples were crispy and so flavorful. What a JOY to find such great flavored local fruits. I went back three times to replenish my supply. My canning medley turned out so delicious. I used these peaches, apples, plums, lime, strawberries, orange. I call this my Cold Crush Fruit Medley. When I see our local farmers items in Food Lion - I always look to support them. Thank you Food lion...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe staff (mostly) are nice people. Been shopping here for years, now. However, the amount of brine in the house brand chicken packages has grown little by little, so that by now there's not even an attempt to pretend to be honest. The guy in the meat department isn't getting negative feedback, apparently, or else management is forcing him to deal dishonestly with customers. If you need to charge more, then charge more. But stop cheating your customers by filling up the chicken breasts with brine and then freezing them real fast. The brine leaks out when they thaw, and the scam is just obvious. A half cup or cup of water loose in every thawed package, never mind how much is still inside the meat, artificially inflating the weight and therefore the price. I'm choosing to buy the other brand, which costs more, because they aren't obviously trying to...
