They took over $100 from my sister today without her knowing, and they refuse to refund it.
If you sign up for the free week, make sure you know that even though they don’t ask for your credit card originally, they will force you to give them a credit card number before you can attend the “free” classes. And they will do their best to charge you and keep the money no matter what. It’s downright evil.
So, I’m a person who is temporarily without a credit card. And since you have to have a credit card “on file” I was forced to buy something in cash if I wanted to go for my “free week”. Sadly. I did. I had planned to overlap “free weeks” with my sister when her schedule came around and it was important to me to have that time to be with her.
I bought myself the cheapest membership-like thing ($140!!!) so I could go DURING MY “FREE WEEK” with my sister in her free week. Going was very important to me, my sister rarely has extra time, and I wanted to do something together While she’s home from college this summer.
So I admit, I paid that stupidly high amount to go be near my sister during her free week. Our schedules only matched up twice, but I loved getting to spend time with her regardless. She does not feel quite as warmly towards me, we’re on good terms, but she can’t afford to spill money like I ended up doing.
And then this morning happened. This morning was the second time we went together, and it was of my sister’s “free days”, but it ended up costing her over $100. Here’s why: even if you give a card number like she did and you plan to cancel before they start treating you like a member, they will: happily charge you a day BEFORE they said they would+they’ll happily start charging you for a monthly membership that you didn’t pick+they won’t help you change it for other versions that are the same price+AND they decide that you ONLY have until the end of the month to use it. Even if you haven’t known about it for the earlier days of the month.
So you could say that things between my sister and I are tense.
I’m looking to forget about this scamming CrossFit place with it’s owner named Ali... or is it Holly... he didn’t correct me when I asked if his name was Holly, but it seems that everyone else calls him Ali.
My sister needs the money back.
And I don’t really understand why taking immediate money is better than helping people enjoy their workouts. In all honesty, I can afford to pay and stay for a few months—but why the hell would I if they continue to steal money from people and stubbornly refuse to give it back! My sister won’t take what she calls “charity” from me, so now her next semester is looking more than $100 tighter on food budgeting.
Anyhow. DON’T DO THE FREE TRIAL AT CROSSFIT.
Why not go to Iron Valley Barbell, (it’s a gym about 2 miles away) they’re friendly, an the owner has this chill friendly dog......
Read moreMy family and I moved to Zionsville a year and half ago and one of my top priorities was finding a gym that felt like “home”. I had been doing CrossFit for 3.5 years at that point and many years of traditional lifting behind me so I knew what boxes needed to have a check mark before committing. Let me just say, CrossFit Zionsville was my first stop, last stop and one stop shop! I was warmly (literally it was a 90• day) welcomed by Owner and Coach Ali at the first door and once I walked into the gym several members came up to introduce themselves and welcome me. I immediately felt at ease and a sense of family. I proceeded to get my ego checked during the workout and loved every sweaty second of it. I peeled my smiling self off the gym floor with a sweat body left behind to confirm my hope in the programming. The rest is history! The coaches are accommodating, encouraging and flexible with meeting you where you’re at. There are always ways to modify any workout. The workouts are full of variety and there’s always a fun skill to work towards. The coaches truly care about you and helping you achieve YOUR goals. The members are family to me and have helped make my transition here in Zionsville an easy one. It’s more than physical, the mental gains from being apart of a community like CFZ has been my biggest takeaway. So, whether you have never worked out a day in your life, are a stay at home parent, a working parent, a teenager, a masters, an experienced CrossFit athlete or just looking for something new and exciting, I encourage you to drop on in CrossFit Zionsville. Don’t want to show up alone? I’m typically at the 9:30 class Monday-Friday and I’ll welcome you with open arms, a fist bump, a handshake, a smile, whatever your vibe is. I remember my first feelings of intimidation too, but quickly saw we’re all in this together. My...
