On June 7th, we met, I described what I wanted in my dress, gave pictures, was given a average of cost, not necessarily a definite quote and I paid a $200 deposit through Zelle. I didnāt sign any documents, but I keep all receipts. I asked Nikki about a sketch, she showed me other work sheād done. She also told me she was headed to NY to purchase materials for other things. So I waited a couple of weeks (6/20) and I sent a text asking about a sketch, letting her know I wanted to begin making monthly payments on my dress (I did not feel comfortable making more payments without some type of communication, progress, or sketch). I did not get a response. I sent a message on messenger (where we 1st interacted) I did not get a response. I waited another 4 days and I called Nikki. I asked about payment and a sketch. She told me she would have it this weekend (which was last weekend). She told me to make payments however I like (I wasnāt making another payment until I saw a sketch). I never received the sketch last weekend or this week. So I texted yesterday afternoon āhey just checking in on my sketch from last weekend,ā no response. This morning I couldnāt help but think this is the only vendor that has not even tried to communicate back, no response at all for weeks and sheās already been paid $200. I havenāt been shown any materials or fabrics purchased for my dress and I was not given any kind of timeline other than I would have a sketch last weekend. I canāt be stressing over ādo I have a wedding dress, will it be ready on time,ā or any other questions leading up to our big day. So I sent a text asking for a refund, forget the dreams of a custom dress Iām going to a boutique! Guess what! Within 30 minutes Nikki called me back! She said sheās had a lot going on, blah, blah, blah and all sales are final. In my mind, what was sold, I never got the sketch! She offered to give me a credit towards accessories or alterations on whatever I decided. I told her I need to take my $200 towards a new dress. I just donāt feel comfortable with this anymore. She told me āyou should practice patience.ā I responded āyou should practice communication.ā She said she learned a lesson and will send me the sketch right away. I received the sketch, but deep down, this just went left too quickly. I donāt trust her, she should have taken full responsibility for not communicating. I just donāt want to deal with her anymore, I donāt want the stress leading up. So since Nikki is denying me a refund. Iāve sent a Zelle refund request, she denied it. If I canāt have my $200 back I hope this takes away thousands from her. If only she would have communicated āhey, Iām busy, Iāll get you a sketch, Iām sorry,ā or any kind of customer service this would have ended completely different. But instead Iām told to trust her and patience to get it done. Again, Iām huge on supporting black business but black business must do better and give me...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI spent my black dolla with Nikki Blaine at Nikki Blaine Couture. My sorority celebrated our centennial last week. I wanted to do something special to celebrate the occasion. I decided to have two dresses made for a luncheon (African attire requested) and gala. I had no clue about what I wanted. I knew I wanted something different though. She tossed a couple of ideas out and I was sold! I put my trust in her to produce something beautiful. I paid Nikki a non-refundable deposit which she applied to the total costs of garments that she created for me. She had me come back twice for fittings to adjust, if needed. I was so excited at the fittings because her vision was coming to life!!
I tried them on a third and last time. I was so excited to see the final products! Nikki showed out on my clothes ā Do you hear me?! When I tried on the African skirt with short train and wrap top, I promise I heard Simba roaring and āCircle of Lifeā playing in the background. The African outfit was made for comfort since I had to work and be on my feet at the luncheon. And when I tried on the formal dress, I did not realize how nice a short dress would look on me. I loved it!! Nikki pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and wear a short formal dress! I never really wear short dresses, but I fell in love with this dress.
I highly recommend Nikki Blaine Couture. Nikki is so pleasant to work with. She collaborates with customers to make sure she has our creative vision in mind. She is a one stop shop because I didnāt have jewelry for the formal dress. She had jewelry ready to sell. I bought a complete set from her at a reasonable price. When you want clothing made, please visit Nikki...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve known Nikki Blaine approximately 17 years. Iāve seen her work from start to finish designing gowns and party dresses and wedding gowns.
Iāve even recommended her to my friends who have been satisfied and pleasurably intrigued by her services.
No one in these days works one primary job. Sheās a mother, and she operates a program geared towards the betterment of girls who are in need.
Thereās much more to see of Nikki Blaine than, needle and thread.
I wish more customers could be willing to work with Black entrepreneurās time and money, sketches and fittings are definitely the only start of a project.
Weāve all been trying to regroup, access our pre-Covid-19 hiccups and start living for services once set aside for everything...
