Awesome park first timer loved it.Has toilets a kitchen area with microwave kettle, table and chairs, a BBQ area, fenced-in dog rest area. Train rides free or a donation. Coffee cart which has amazing coffee sells allsorts of snack food as well. Caters for kids of all ages has a skate park area but I think that needs some serious upgrading maybe a bigger area with some decent jumps, has an adult area with fitness rides. Parking on the main road or has its own parking area.My grandchildren love it you can spend so much time there with a picnic lunch and snacks needs more tables and chairs for big groups of family so as not to sit on the ground as I did see dogs in the play areas and there's a sign saying no dogs I wouldn't let my grandchildren sit on the ground to eat if a dog had just relieved itself there 😉 hell no!!

We often pass this playground when we are heading on a kiwi holiday adventure along SH1. This time (with the kids s bit older) we made a point of stopping. It was a great decision.
The park is big, colorful and has a selection of apparatus to suit all ages. Our kids had s blast on the swings and enjoyed clambering on the train and around the fort. The tube slides were a bit big for them - maybe next time.
There was a wheelchair swing which I haven't seen much. This really made rge place stand out as trying to cater for everyone.
The park had good toilet facilities and there was s place to buy coffee. Key features.

The biggest public playground we have ever seen!!! 😍
The highlight for me was the colorful rainbow-themed equipment which added a fun and cheerful touch to the entire area.
The playground was well-maintained and had a variety of equipment suitable for children of different ages. even it has a workout area for adults and a dog's playground too.
Overall, I would highly recommend this playground to anyone looking for a fun and inclusive activity. It's a great spot for families and friends to spend some quality time together in a vibrant and playful environment.

Awesome park for both kids and adults. So many different options. Best park and playground in Levin. The adventure park has multiple playgrounds, basketball court, beach volleyball, slides, flying fox, spider web, multiple swinging sets, big kids playground and little kids playground, wooden train, skate park, sandpit, disability/wheelchair swing and even a little train that you can ride for free on sunny days. Theres public toilets and a room to eat and relax in. Oh and theres a dog rest area and play course! This park has everything. Would recommend.

Masterton's Queen Elizabeth II Park is without a doubt the loveliest park I have come across...ever! It has sooooo many nice spots that you'll need a few hours to see just even of them, along with a myriad of activities for everyone to have a go at like; mini golf, bike hire, miniature motorised cars, pedal boats, bike trails, a deer park, a miniature train with a real tunnel (local rules dictate you MUST scream as loud as you can whilst in it!), and a world renowned kids playground that has to be seen to be believed (and it doesn't matter how old you are, you'll eventually find yaself playing in it somewhere!).
There is also a very picturesque cricket oval in the middle of the park, it includes a lovely old grandstand, which has a very real village green feel about it. The late and great Mr Martin Crowe used to say it was his most favourite ground in New Zealand to play at...perhaps not on, but certainly at. Thanks Marty :)

My very mediocre pics serve this park absolutely no justice! (the ones of Autumn aren't mine).
The jewel in Masterton's crown with so much to offer. From one of the most picturesque village cricket ovals in Aotearoa, to a lovely wee minature train which ambles around its own private island. As well, there are boats for hire on the lake, a skate park for the older kids, mini putt with bikes for hire, and wee motorised cars for the littlies.
Yet the pièce de résistance is the kids playground which the entire community built with aroha [love], & in less than a week! It has received international acclaim, and we get many out of town visitors that come specifically for it! Come and visit NZ's most beautiful city and its most beautiful asset. You won't be disappointed... 😃

Queen Elizabeth Park is a park in Masterton, Wairarapa, New Zealand, located beside the Waipoua River. It was named Masterton Park until 1954, when it was renamed in honour of Queen Elizabeth II after her visit to Masterton.
You can try out the new state-of-the-art skatepark, ride on the classic miniature steam train, ride around the lake on a pedal boat, have a round of mini golf, feed the ducks, walk over the swing bridge to visit the deer, take a walk around Queen Elizabeth Park's beautiful trees and much more.
There's also a huge playground with a flying fox, and a BMX track to keep the kids happy.

This is a charming little park with a lake and a miniature railway (not running the day I visited) there is also a children's play park and a cricket green with a grandstand. Amongst other items of interest are a "Tuna Circle" (Tuna in Te reo Maori is an eel not a fish) and a rather crude statue entitled "thinker". There is also the preserved stump of an enormous tree which was around a hundred years old when struck buy lightening which forced its demise (I only photographed one half because the other had been vandalised with graffiti).

Epic Park. Amazing facility for active people and incredible well cared for lawn. Well done Picton City Council
So beautiful to see passion in the gardens and grounds. Clean.
Proud to call Picton my old home, where I met my first fishing buddy Arthur Devine in 1992 on Doresett Street.
Amazing memories.
What a Magic Spot

If anyone from the Picton City Council reads this, message me. I've got some consulting I would like to do with you for some City beautification and enhancements for safety.

I had the absolute pleasure of visiting the Southward Car Museum in Paraparaumu, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was struck with awe at the sheer size, scale, and beauty of the collection. It truly felt like walking through a living timeline of automotive history.
The museum houses an extraordinary variety of vehicles—ranging from some of the earliest models that shaped the beginnings of motoring, through to iconic classics, racing legends, luxury cars, and even rare motorcycles. Each piece is immaculately preserved and displayed with care, and I was amazed at how close you could get to these works of engineering art. You don’t just see cars; you experience the innovation, stories, and history behind them.
What impressed me further was the thoughtful way the museum is organized. Every turn revealed something unique, whether it was a vintage Rolls Royce, a finely detailed American classic, or a quirky car with a fascinating backstory. There is a sense of wonder at every corner. The sheer diversity of the collection makes it enjoyable not only for car enthusiasts but also for anyone who appreciates history, craftsmanship, and culture.
The museum itself is spacious, well-lit, and easy to navigate. Staff members were welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the collection, adding even more richness to the visit. It’s not just a car museum—it’s a celebration of human creativity and progress.
Southward Car Museum is a true treasure of New Zealand. I left feeling inspired and amazed, and I would highly recommend it to anyone—locals, tourists, families, or solo travelers. It is more than worth the visit.

The museum exceeded my expectations. Some amazing and impressive displays of days gone by. In more ways than one. I understand now why my husband has always enjoyed his visits over the years. The lass at the counter upon entry was an absolute delight. And yes, my brother and I couldn't resist a purchase or 2 before we left. Cars for my husband's birthday went down a treat. Thank you for sharing some history of transport once used. Absolutely loved the Copper Car.
So, take the time to visit here. You won't regret it. Southward Car Museum is between Waikanae and Paraparaumu. Google Maps will get you there. And the entry fee is very reasonable, I thought.
Blessings to everyone involved with the Southward Car Museum 🚗

This is an amazing display of vintage cars, motorbikes, and other memorabilia. I have been to the Mercedes and Porsche car museums in Stuttgart, and this is equally as good as those. You will easily spend a couple of hours meandering through the perfectly presented displays admiring the cars of your youth. If you're old enough, you may even spot your first few cars. I can't wait to go again, three floors are too much to cover properly in one visit. It's just simply a fantastic venue, a must to go and see. You might be surprised by what else they do to.

Located on the Kapiti Coast, the Southward Car Museum houses hundreds of cars as well as planes, motorbikes and other interesting vehicles and machinery.
The museum was created by Sir Len Southward and his wife Vera. They started collecting cars in 1956. It become the largest private car collection in Australasia. They purchased the current site in 1976 which was then opened to the public.
Ensure you have several hours available so you have time to visit the whole museum. There are three levels of vehicles plus lots of memorabilia.
