A Tirana Gem: An Unforgettable Dining Experience at Il Gusto

My wife and I stumbled upon Il Gusto during our stay in Tirana, and it has quickly become a highlight of our trip. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem, offering an incredible dining experience that is both high-quality and surprisingly affordable. We’ve already made plans to return, and we can’t recommend it enough. We started our meal with the grilled shrimp, and they were an absolute delight. The shrimp were cooked to a delicate perfection and seasoned so wonderfully that every bite was bursting with flavor. For the main course, I chose the Spanish steak, which was cooked exactly as I requested and seasoned perfectly. The chef truly knows their craft. My wife had the sea bass with rice, a dish so delectable it was clear why the restaurant is so highly regarded for its seafood. The service was also top-notch, with the staff being attentive and helpful without being intrusive. However, the true showstopper was dessert. We finished our meal with the cheesecake, and my wife, who has tasted cheesecake from New Jersey to Tirana, declared it the best she has ever had. Il Gusto provides a phenomenal combination of exquisite food, excellent service, and a charming atmosphere. It's a must-visit spot in Tirana, and we are looking forward to our next visit.

If you want an over the top seafood experience in Tirana this is your place. Many little extras you cannot put a price on. We were greeted at the door and the owners wife explaining all the fresh fish in the seafood display. They took our coats. When the wine was brought we did the normal tasting and then the put ice in our glasses and chilled them before pouring. We were struggling to find an appetizer and like the wine we went with their recommendation and it was fabulous. We selected a fresh fish from the display and it was grilled perfectly and separated table side removing the head and bones. A complimentary sorbet after dinner and then we had a superb tiramisu. Disappointing experience. My husband steak was overcooked, and when I mentioned it, the waiter didn’t say a word—no apology, nothing. The food was just okay, but my octopus came looking sad on a few lonely rocket leaves. As it was under mains( not starters) I still needed to order fish ( which waiter was trying to sell different one as mine one supposed to be not good :D Service was the biggest letdown: my wine glass sat empty for half the evening without a single offer for a refill or check if we would like to order something else, and our main waiter spent most of his time texting on the stairs rather than checking on us when food arrived.
