The Resurrection Cathedral (Katedralja Ngjallja e Krishtit) is an Albanian Orthodox church situated in the center of Tirana, Albania. It is considered among the largest Eastern Orthodox churches in the Balkans. It was officially opened on June 24, 2012, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the revival of the Albanian Orthodox Church and the election of Archbishop Anastasios of Albania. Designed by the New York City-based Architect and Engineering team of Steven P. Papadatos and Lizardos Engineering Associates. The complex of the cathedral includes the following buildings: the cathedral, the chapel of the Nativity, the bell tower, the residence of the Holy Synod, the cultural center, a library, two other chapels and a small museum. The cathedral's dome is 32.2 m high, with the bell tower reaching 46 metres The bell tower, designed and sculpted by Archbishop Anastasios, is composed of four Paschal candles which symbolize the four Evangelists who proclaimed the Resurrection. These join around the central shaft of stairs. The winding staircase leads to two open floors with 16 bells. A four-sided clock sits above the bells. The two underground levels below the cathedral church were used to fulfill the church's need for a Cultural and Conference Center. The center has an amphitheater with a capacity for 500-850 people which may be used to host lectures, shows, and concerts. The auxiliary wings and backstage allow this hall to be used as a theater also. On the eastern side of the amphitheater is a small museum, a lecture hall, a surrounding for banquets and an area for exhibitions and children's activities. To the right of the grand marble staircase which leads to the church cathedral there is ample space for a bookstore and a store with church items. Meanwhile, to the left of the stairs are two rooms where youth groups and faithful can gather after church services. To the north, in front of the Conference and Cultural Center there is a small outdoor amphitheater, for use during...

The Resurrection of Christ Orthodox Cathedral in Tirana is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited, and I want to share my impressions with you. This cathedral is a true gem, combining modern architectural elements with the rich traditions of Orthodox design. From the moment you see it, you can’t help but admire its grandeur and elegance.

The exterior is striking, with its harmonious proportions and thoughtful details. But it’s the interior that truly amazed me. Inside, the walls are covered with stunning frescoes, intricate mosaics, and beautiful icons. The golden accents and delicate decorations create a peaceful and majestic atmosphere, perfect for reflection or prayer.

What impressed me most was how welcoming and serene the place felt. It’s not just a cathedral—it’s a cultural and spiritual treasure that reflects the deep history and faith of the local community.

If you ever find yourself in Tirana, I highly recommend visiting this incredible place. For me, it was an unforgettable experience, and I’m sure it will leave the same impression on you. It’s a space where faith, art, and beauty come together in...

The Christ Resurrection Orthodox Cathedral in Tirana is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. It’s one of the biggest Orthodox churches in the Balkans and has a modern design that looks amazing. The white building with its big dome is easy to spot and very impressive.

Inside, the church is calm and welcoming. The walls and ceiling are decorated with beautiful artwork and golden details that make the place feel special. It’s a great spot to sit quietly and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

What makes this church unique is how it mixes modern style with tradition. Even though it’s new, it still feels like a meaningful place. You don’t have to be religious to enjoy it – the architecture and design are worth seeing.

It’s also in the city center, so it’s easy to get to. Whether you’re looking for a quiet moment or just want to see something beautiful, the Christ Resurrection Cathedral is definitely worth a visit. It’s a place that leaves you feeling calm...
