My recent visit to Rozafa Restaurant in Tirana was deeply disappointing due to the dishonesty and unprofessionalism exhibited by the waitstaff. As a tourist, I was eager to experience Albanian hospitality and cuisine, but this establishment failed to deliver on both fronts.
Upon arrival, I was met with what initially appeared to be a welcoming atmosphere. However, things quickly took a turn for the worse when it came time to settle the bill. Unfortunately, I found myself short on leke. When I offered to pay in pounds, the waiter shockingly claimed that one pound is equivalent to one lek, a blatant attempt to scam me. This deceptive practice not only tainted my dining experience but also projected a negative image of Albanian hospitality, making tourists feel unwelcome and wary.
The seafood soup was a highlight of the meal, offering a delicious taste that met my expectations. However, the marinated octopus was a letdown, failing to impress in both flavor and texture. It was a stark contrast to the initial promise of the menu, leaving much to be desired.
Additionally, the restaurant imposes a 5% service charge, which in light of the poor service, felt entirely unjustified. The combination of being misled about the currency exchange rate and the lackluster food quality on certain dishes has left me with a sour taste and a strong sense of dissatisfaction.
Rozafa Restaurant needs to address these issues promptly. Honest and transparent customer service is essential, especially in a city that is growing as a tourist destination. By attempting to scam patrons, they not only damage their own reputation but also contribute to a harmful stereotype that could deter future visitors.
In conclusion, while there were some positive aspects to my meal, the overall experience was marred by deceit and subpar service. I hope the management takes serious steps to improve, ensuring that other diners do not leave with the same...
Read moreGoing to one of the three Rozafa Fish City that are the main distributors of seafood in Albania you are expecting a 5 star experience. Unfortunately, I got very disappointed from my visit. The one in Elbasan that is the main one is definitely much better.
I live in America where the tipping culture is something that I always do. Unfortunately, my experience today didn’t deserve any. Please be aware that they add 5% of your bill automatically to the bill - the service today deserved one star. I specifically asked my server to bring me the seafood items that I ordered as appetizers like fried calamari, shrimps, salad, fish soup, seafood risotto before he brings the fish. I didn’t even want to give him my main dish orders in the beginning but he stated that he will take care of this and that it is better to give him all the order now since they are busy. GUESS WHAT HAPPENED- I got my calamari, shrimps, and risotto at least 15 minutes after they delivered my main dishes. Unbelievable.
To top it all up, after this my experience definitely got better after I couldn’t stay in the main dinning area due to hearing the kitchen staff screaming and having arguments with each other while there were at least 50 people dinning there.
😡😡😡😡 In overall, I will say that the seafood here is definitely fresh and cooked well to an extent, but the staff there definitely needs to change - especially the kitchen staff needs to learn how to behave properly and not scream while there are people dinning there knowing that the kitchen is open and in the same floor as the...
Read moreWe were very disappointed. We came for lunch and ordered seafood soup, marinated octopus, marinated anchovies, and fries. After an hour, only the fries and octopus had arrived. The latter was inedible sour and very salty. The waiter who took the order was the same one who served us, and when he brought the water, he brought it without glasses. We kindly asked him if he could bring us some, and he brought only one, in a hurried manner. If he had placed that glass down any harder, it would have broken. After another half hour, we asked another waiter, blonde and very tall, when the other two dishes would arrive. He, unlike the first, was very kind and helpful. He told us that neither the anchovies nor the soup had been noted at all. So we just asked for the soup, which at least was truly good. When the waiter who had taken the order passed by, we told him about the mistake, and he responded annoyed, telling us that we had made the wrong order. He claimed that we had ordered a seafood salad instead of seafood soup. That wasn’t true, as the soup was pictured on the menu, and we ordered it by pointing at the photo. And even if that were true, the seafood salad hadn’t arrived in an hour and a half, not to mention the anchovies. This waiter was very rude. It's a real shame because we had been to this restaurant almost two years ago, and it was truly excellent. It’s not worth going...
