Watch out for this tourist trap! We chose to eat here because the menu looked nice, quite some interesting options for vegetarians which in itself is quite rare in these regions. However from the 6 things we tried to order, 4 were not available. From simple requests like a coke or lemon soda, to whole dishes that we couldn't order (which we were only told after ordering so we couldn't exactly leave) and the waiter then proceeded to recommend more expensive drinks and dishes to substitute. The food we did manage to order was nice enough, but nothing extraordinary. The cheese with pears had 2 very small and pitiful pieces of pear that did not deserve to be mentioned on the menu card. We were given a basket of rather stale and not very enjoyable bread which we did not order but were charged for anyways. Also the restaurant next to this one was blasting really loud music, there was a street musician not far off and the restaurant itself had music on as well, making it not the most relaxing atmosphere. We had to wait for a rather long time after 1 requesting the check and 2 getting the money picked up so that we could leave. All in all not a very enjoyable experience and we...
Read moreWe came from North Macedonia especially for the New Year’s Eve dinner at Shëndeverë and we were pleasantly greeted and seated by arrival. The owner of the locality was very welcoming and had his own family around to help and celebrate with us, which we hadn’t encountered anywhere so far. It gave you a feeling of being between friends and family.
The wine was great and and the starters came slowly, but steadily. Thus, the first dish of the main course was served just before 12 am, which was turkey and stuffing. The main course consisted of two dishes fish or veal AND turkey. Upon asking several times for the meat dish, as we hadn’t eaten all day, three servers informed us that it was on its way. The tables around us were served the meat/fish dish, but we were left out, unfortunately.
We left at around 1:30am, hungry and slightly disappointed, as we had heard positive things about this establishment. For the price of 150€ for two people, they could have been a little more organized and put a bit more effort in serving everyone, as we would’ve loved to make it a tradition to go there for New Year’s Eve, would we had left the restaurant with a...
Read moreI spent fifteen days in Albania and unfortunately this was the only place where I was treated very badly. I arrived with my husband and we were welcomed by the restaurant manager who, as soon as he realized that we were Italian, started to offend us. He told us that we are an ignorant, rude and freeloading people. All this without even having given us the least. I pointed out to the man that his approach was not very polite and, justifying it because perhaps he had had a bad day, we ordered some appetizers. I must say in fairness that what we ate was excellent, but the same man continued to offend. He told us that he worked for a year in Italy, that all Italians are mafia, ignorant and similar things. At that point we decided to interrupt dinner and left. The crazy thing is that today I met an Italian family who had the same treatment in the same restaurant. Now I don't know if this guy had a bad experience in Italy and maybe he hates us all, if he's bitter because after a year of working outside he wasn't able to succeed, but it's unthinkable to treat people like that. I had a great time in Albania, only he was insolent,...
