This is an extraordinary restaurant that serves very traditional Albanian food in a Homestyle way. It has NO menu but the two sisters that run it know what they are doing! They approach each table and ask what you might like or want and will set a four or five course meal for you, if you want meat, they’ll let you know what is available. Of course we choose lamb. Our first course was a hot flaky onion Lakror which was delicious followed by wonderful Greek salad with feta, cucumbers and the most sweetest tomatos with pitted olives. Then came an incredible leek baked with a light pepper tomato sauce which was unlike anything we’ve ever had feed before. The flavor was so unique and delicious and the leeks were lightly carmelized. It was very hot and came with an oven mitt. Alongside this was a homemade bread with a tremendous crust yet the center was so soft. We naturally assumed that the leeks were the star of the meal but then came the lamb shank in a very light broth which we then pulled the tender bits of lamb and dipped it into the broth and realized that this was perfection and could not get any better anywhere!! The final touch was a piece of almond coconut cake along worth grapes and watermelon. The best way to conceptualize the experience is akin to a fixed price 5 course meal as imagined by the chef.
It was by far the best meal we’ve had in Albania and Tirana. It totaled 4700 lek not including tip which is not cheap but worth every single lek!! We could not recommend...
Read moreOn the back of the many excellent reviews we read of this restaurant, we chose to eat here. We really should have read the bad ones as well as they are spot on! From entering the establishment, we were ignored and had to wait for the owner to have a chit chat with her other customers before showing us a table (it was the only option as the other tables hadn't even been cleared). It was only after some time she came to us and explained there is NO menu. No communication as to how many dishes we'd be served and most crucially no transparency regarding the price. At this point, she didn't ask us what we'd like to drink and we had to ask her once the food was on the table and we were so parched. As for the food, the first course was greasy, bread undercooked inside, mash potatoes overly salted, lamb was full of fat and bones, hardly any meat and the cabbage salad overly acidic. My boyfriend was keen on trying the dessert to see if this could redeem the meal but we were ignored for a good amount of time, at which point we decided to call it a night. Upon asking for the bill, she charged us 4800 lek for 2 people, expensive for...
Read moreWish I could give this restaurant and Lori (the sweetest owner) a 12/10 because me and the girls had the best time, eating the best authentic dishes and chatting it up with Lori.
If you're a picky eater, maybe reconsider, but if you're open to trying new foods, Taverna e Kasapit was truly amazing.
There is no menu, which adds to the experience, but Lori brought out the best dishes, and just enough for me and my three friends. A great mix of veggies and meat, finished it off with two types of dessert. We ate byrek, a platter of olives, homemade bread, roasted peppers in olive oil, the best eggplant dish, Albanian meatballs, cheese, 4 plates of cake, and a pear dessert. And of course, homemade raki, all for 7000 ALL, which was 1750 ALL per person. Would absolutely recommend, definitely have a chat with Lori if you get the...
