1810 Cocina Regional Centro — Restaurant in Autonomous City of Buenos Aires

An absolute delight. Stopped there by chance between AEP & EZE airport as we were flying from Iguassu to Salta through BA (not the original plan but this is another story! 🥸! The locro is to die for. Tried a few more in different places afterwards and they were no match at all! The server was super friendly with a decent English which is rare but really welcomed and considerate for our total lack of Spanish! The grilled nuts/corn and sauce with bread as an extra were both really nice and unexpected. The place is small but super welcoming and local which is what we’re after. If I lived anywhere around I’d definitely go regularly ! Price were also really decent. Overall, aside from asado places… which this is not, this is definitely the best restaurant we ate in during our trip and I feel lucky my wife...

The empanadas here are godsend, seriously. We've made sure to repeat this restaurant during our stay in Buenos Aires because it really surprised us in every way.

We ate basically almost all empanadas in the menu, but the Jamón del Norte was without a doubt the best one of them all. Perfect mixture of salty and sweet, and very delicious.

You can't go wrong with any of them, but our top 3 empanadas were: Jamón del Norte, Tucumana and Humita. Our least favorite was the Acelga.

Trust me,...

He pedido comida a 1810 infinidad de veces, y unas cuantas también he comido en el local. Algunas de las empanadas son realmente buenas, pero la relación precio-calidad sólo es aceptable si se paga en efectivo (y por tanto sin ticket) con 20% de descuento; de otro modo resultan demasiado caras. Los platos regionales están bien hechos, sobre todo el locro. Hasta ahí todo muy bien. La nota discordante es el manager que atiende la caja: un señor que vive de pésimo humor, responde con un rango de tono que va de seco a agresivo, y no se muestra dispuesto a hacer el menor esfuerzo por complacer a sus clientes. En las opiniones de esta página hay unas cuantas simpáticas anécdotas sobre él. Imagino que se tratará del dueño, ya que de otro modo hubiera sido despedido hace tiempo. Pero las empanadas están buenas. Así que de momento seguiré comprando ahí, pagando en efectivo y fumándome estoicamente a ese personaje hasta que descubra otro buen local de empanadas en el barrio. Y entonces será bye bye loquibamba.

En resumen: empanadas ricas - pago casi obligatorio en efectivo - manager con problemitas = 2 sólidas estrellitas

Update: En mis últimas visitas al local he notado que el señor rabietas está mucho más amable. Congratulaciones: lo que sea que está haciendo, que lo siga haciendo. Y para alentarlo aquí van 2...
