Had to leave a review and warn others as this is by far my worst experience in Buenos Aires. Now sushi is not the go-to dish in this country but you can find some decent spots. At Agua though, they exceed terrible in all senses of the word. Dishes at Agua are 2x1 on Mondays at a hefty price of $6800 pesos per plate as of June 11th, 2024. The prices go up constantly but these people seem to have drifted far away from reality, probably explains why their restaurant is a ghost town. You may think the two-for-one happy hour evens out the ridiculous pricing, however, you’ll wait 20 minutes for a “designated 2x1” happy hour plate to arrive (they are labeled). Patrons at the bar seem to wait an eternity for the happy hour plates as the cooks keep sending out regular plates that nobody picks up. It feels like a bait and switch as soon as you sit down. You’ll see the same two nigiri pieces constantly in rotation because nobody is going to pay $6800 for rice. Staff, food nor restaurant is up to par with anything relative to the price you pay. As I said before, Argentina isn't known for good service but these folks have won the Michelin star in the stranger things upside down world. I'd stay far far away. I've been to several restaurants of this style and this is by...
Read moreChicken satay was great. Butter chicken was decent (the naan part not very good).
Parmesan mariscos pretty solid -- although some of them I saw 2 pieces and some of them I saw 3 pieces, and I got one with 2 pieces so I felt ripped off.
The lemongrass syrup in the "Freshen up" mocktail is DELICIOUS, but it wasn't stirred at all and was all concentrated at the bottom.
The fried ice cream was bad. The inside ice cream part was good but the outside fried portion was served cold and soggy, definitely not fresh out of the fryer.
Service is bad: my server spent 90% of the time standing in the back talking to her co-worker. She also triple-verified anytime I requested something as if I was making a bad decision...weird. Had to request a butter chicken and it took a very long time to make. The fried ice cream also took a very long time to make.
Interesting concept in theory, but in practice I don't want to wait a long time for a desired dish, only to eventually have to explicitly request it anyway.
Staff speaks decent English which...
Read moreAqua in Buenos Aires has a fun vibe and could make for a cool date night spot, but overall, we were pretty disappointed with the experience. The prices are extremely high for what you get—think $8 USD for a single spring roll or just one or two pieces of sushi per plate. The portions are tiny, and unfortunately, the quality just doesn't match the cost.
They promote a happy hour, but very few items (either food or drinks) actually qualify for the discount, which felt a bit misleading. We arrived right at 7 p.m. when they opened, and they clearly weren’t ready—there was a long wait before anything was served. We also noticed trays of food, including raw fish, sitting out and going untouched for over an hour, which raised serious concerns about freshness and food safety.
All in all, while it has potential as a trendy spot, the execution fell...
