A pretty incredible eating experience every time I go. The second time I was in BA was for work with my brother. He spotted this place on a list somewhere and we went two nights in a row, without hesitation. Paying with a company card didn't hurt on that decision but I believe you're getting what you're paying for here.
They've got some serious bar tending going on here and if you're in the mood for a fancy cocktail you could do much worse than what they'll whip up for you here. I ordered a smoked negroni, being a fan of the normal variant. It came wonderfully represented with some cumquat infused gin which I would normally classify as trying way too hard but it was delish. The wine list is varied, from a reasonable price for a solid bottle (hard to top the local grocery store on the bang for buck quotient in BA though) all the way up to Kanye making it rain in the VIP room levels of exorbitance.
They make bread in house and boy howdy it's good. It comes with salted and unsalted butter and quite frankly you had me at house made bread with salted butter, but what can I say I have simple tastes sometimes.
I've been several times now and each time tried something new. It would be tough to top the steak here though - pretty much in the too 5 steaks I've ever eaten and everyone in my party agreed. Just order it.
The desserts are "stop it I never imagined my stomach could stretch this far" worth it - I'll include a picture of some chocolate temptress.
It's a leisurely eating experience, like much of Buenos Aires, so don't make reservations an hour before your play starts or something. Soak it all in and revel in the glorious food, super chill atmosphere and one of the most delicious meals you'll have in...
Read moreFOODIE’S TRAVEL FOR FOOD, always watching for culinary/gastronomic creativity that delights the eyes, the nose and of course, the palate…
We searched out CRIZIA, a 50-Discovery restaurant, with high expectations….. BUT IT FAILS TO IMPRESS😑😑😑… Good food overall BUT quite unremarkably average.
For an EXPENSIVE TASTING MENU, it DOES NOT MEASURE UP to similar 50-Discovery restaurants.
😑 flavors and textures are unexciting, they DO NOT arouse the palate.
🫤 there’s very little nose to main palate.
🫤🫤 🫤 🫤🫤THERE ARE SERIOUS FAUX PAS in 3 major courses
👎 Serving FRESH OYSTERS TOPPED WITH SAUCES, etc IS MONUMENTAL MISTAKE.
Oysters MUST be served in its pristine state. One has to be able to taste the sea, to taste the waters they grow in!!
For a restaurant that claims to have “discovered” the first oysters in Argentina, THEY DESTROY THE FRESHNESS AND SIMPLICITY OF THE OYSTERS…
👎 The PATAGONIAN LAMB FAILS to highlight the favor and texture of the lamb.
The serving of 2 very tiny pieces crumble with a slice of the knife. ALL THAT ONE TASTES IS THE SAUCE OR MARINADE.
This lamb dish has little aroma or fragrance of a meat dish!
👎 The Dessert titled “Imagination” is more of a question whether the chef had any imagination at all!!!
It’s simple quenelle of UNREMARKABLE sorbet and slices of fruit.
Then there’s a similarly UNIMAGINATIVE duo of chocolates.
🤗🤗🤗 A bright spot of the dinner is the WILD MUSHROOMS…complex yet delicate flavors and contrasting textures
🤗🤗🤗 Another bright spot is the SECRET OF THE OCEAN a lovely medley of seafood and fish roe, dominated by langostine. The sauces are silky and...
Read moreI had the tasting menu with wine pairing. The food is decent and the wine pairing was excellent. But service was not great - they did not explain the different dishes to me and I had to ask 3x what the "catch of the day" was and what the "imagination" course today will be. They are also totally inflexible with making any adjustments to dietary restrictions or allergies. Also, serving sorbet for the desert after a supposedly "grand" meal is very disappointing, its show they are making no effort. When paying this price, I have to compare it to similar priced places like Aramburu and it's not even close, Aramburu is an experience while Crizia was just a safe and decent meal. Few other faults: too much dark meat in my white fish. Also, I had a table near front entrance and it was annoying to watch the hostess playing on her phone the ENTIRE time while guests had to knock multiple times until she opened the front door (I had to knock on door for 2 minutes before someone finally let me in). Also, the sommelier rubbing the inner thigh of the hostess through out the night, 8ft from my table is not what I expect at a fine dining establishment. With that said, I loved the ambiance and they had one of the most beautiful wine cellers I have ever seen (I took a tour of it after my dinner). I also appreciated that the appropriate wine glass was used for every...
