As someone who has lived in Mexico for seven years, I call myself an aficionado of Mexican food. In my humble opinion, Aurelia Cantina offers some of the world's best traditional and authentic Mexican food. It rivals Pujol, the No. 5 best restaurant in the world. The food is outstanding and is marked at an affordable price which left me returning biweekly during my two-month stay in Buenos Aires. You can go right with any order (I've tried all the plates). However, I strongly recommend the tacos de chicharron, the aguachile, and the sopes. I highly recommend you try out the beautifully curated wine pairings as well - you will not be disappointed. Additionally, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was inviting. Aurelia Cantina should be on everyone's travel itinerary while in Buenos Aires. Read moreAmazing taco restaurant. The person who seemed like the owner, or at least a manager, was so nice and helped me with recommendations and whatnot. In the beginning they brink out a shot of warm apple cider or something (my Spanish is not up to par so I didn't understand when they were explaining it) but it was fun and I liked it. To start I had the bean dip, which was incredible. Then I got the Tacos de Barría which were also very good and just what I needed for my taco craving. Finally, for dessert I got the Tres Leches cake slice. It was alright, but nothing special. I also got the jarochito rojo drink which was delicious. My only complaint for the entire experience was that the bean dip came with a very small amount of chips, and I was charged for extras. Besides that, I loved...

All three portions were very small for the price. The tacos were tasty but only half full with filling, the ribs didn’t really have a sauce although were very tender. No drinks whatsoever and our bill was 8400ARS. For context we paid the same price yesterday for 800g of steak, a sharing platter of chips, green salad and a bottle of wine at a parilla in Palermo.
The service was friendly and the staff spoke good English. They also provided a different salsa due to my nut allergy which was appreciated. Bottom line though is we both left hungry which is a pet hate of mine especially when paying these...
