Opened for just 2 months a block over from very popular and touted La Alacena, Felipe is a super alternative/discovery when you decide you don’t want to stand in a long line and wait for your dinner. The 2-story corner space is gorgeously done up but still quite empty waiting for guests to arrive. The space is high end with plenty of seating and very comfortable leather-seated booths. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive. The food was excellent, classic. They have an English menu but the translation is not as appetizing! We went with the sweetbreads as appetizers (one of the best we’ve had this trip), then the grilled lomo, chef’s special steak with a creamy mustard sauce, and house made raviolis (Arg. style thicker like dumplings/pierogis) with an olive and tomato Mediterranean sauce, finishing with a shared flan soft and traditional style. We also shared a bottle of the DV Catena Malbec which was 5000 pesos for the bottle compared to 11,500 at La Cabrera. Not quite 5-stars but highly recommend this off the beaten path newbie as one to watch if the service continues to be strong and the crowds discover it!

I'm dining at restaurant right now. Passed by restaurant at lunch time when hungry and reviews were good. Zero English spoken. I tried asking for house specialities but she didnt understand my poor Spanish which has worked in other restaurants. They have an English menu which was NOT helpful when choosing a steak for lunch. I wanted medium rare, and they tried, but it's hard when the loin is butterflied and grilled. Medium and medium well was the best the chef could do. Tasty, but... The mashed potatoes and salsa that came with steak were delicious. The breads and accompaniments were very good, eggplant and a buttery(?) mousse. Friendly staff but zero English. I wish now I'd tried anything but the steak. Mash potato was excellent. Maybe I'll return for their European dishes like the risotto. The wines are very fairly priced I discovered after seeing the bottle I ordered at several wine shops.
