Regrettably after being a loyal frequent client for over a year, the staff today wanted to charge me for an error they committed. Ordered a large latte to go, they gave me a small one, not a big deal, they remade it, but then they asked me to pay the difference. While it’s a small amount of money the issue here is customer service.
They made a mistake, why charge me for their error? The expected behavior is that they would fix their error free of charge.
What happened today is sheer stupidity on their part and I have zero tolerance for subpar customer attention in a place with a high price range. Just unacceptable.
I will still leave my old review below to document the difference between then and now in their customer service =========
Qualifying the experience as enjoyable, and the food as delectable is an understatement.
Costa Rica street is rife with gastronomical gems, Oli Cafe is no exception. In fact it outshines many adjacent and near by purported meccas of brunch and artisanal coffee, by simply being near perfect in every aspect.
You walk in and immediately your attention is captivated by a scrumptious and aesthetically pleasing display of desserts and pastries. By no means your average pastries. Sophisticated and well balanced with a design that fuses French and local traditional influences. An array of delectable choices and it is very difficult to pick because you want to try them all.
The menu is limited to a few options, however, prepared to incontrovertible levels of mastery. Flavors are fresh, delicate, and innovative. From the simple oatmeal to the fluffy delight that is the French toast, every plate is a balance of color, aroma and flavor.
The spacious kitchen is separated by floor to ceiling glass divider that shields the kitchen staff from the hustle and bustle of the establishment, but still allows the patrons to peek into the well-equipped and well-organized kitchen. All pastries are prepared on site, fresh every day.
Almost everything I tried there has become one of my favorites.
The staff is always polite and well-mannered.

Read moreNotice to Tourists- very rude service! We came to this nice cafe after a workout for lunch. It was crowded but they put me and my partner at a nice table indoors since all the other tables were full. This table was small and had 4 chairs but really fit two people. The food looked great so we ordered and waited a long time for the food.
My partner had to take a phone call outside and while he was away the hostess came up to me and asked in Spanish if I would move to a another table since a party of three was waiting for a table. Unfortunately I do not speak Spanish fluently and I didn’t feel like she was giving me any choice in the matter. She told or asked me to move to this tiny table. Additionally, while she was asking me, the party of 3 was staring at me so I couldn’t refuse her. I felt intimidated but I still moved. When I sat down I realized the table was very tiny and it was located right next to the register and coffee machine.
When my partner came back from his call our food had just arrived and it didn’t fit on our new tiny table near the bar. He was very upset and asked the lady why she moved me. My partner speaks Spanish. She explained that she “asked me” and also that they “do this all the time”. He told her that asking a customer who she seated in one table to move to a much worse table where the food doesn’t even fit is rude. Even worse, asking such a thing to a tourist who is visiting your restaurant and is not understanding what you are saying is intimidating. I think she didn’t get it so we decided to take our business to another cafe. She made us very uncomfortable. There are so many great places in the area with nice service.
Try BIRKIN it’s very chic, very delicious and right...
Read moreWent on Sunday, it was early. Managed to find a table. Attention was not the best. Staff serving us were moody. The food was good, but the price for portions a bit elevated. Pastries are incredible. The coffee, at least the filtered that came with my breakfast, was not good at all. I would recommend it, but if you don´t like small portions its not for you. There are certain plates, which I believe, that are too expensive for the small portion they have. I did not try the lunch, but there were other plates that seemed very nice. I had the COMBO Perfect Breakfast. This was fullfilling. My other two companions, the ROYALTY egg and the PALTA toast. The english muffin was extremely small. and the toast on the avocado toast could have been much bigger. Both were not fulfilled by the portions. I also tried the Chipepa and it was very good. I think though I could give it a second try...
