My visit yesterday exceeded my expectations. I chose the multi-course tasting menu. First, because it gave me the opportunity to get to know the different foods of this area, and because the price was much cheaper than to order several courses individually. The matching wine accompaniment was again for me as a single the best way to really drink the right wine, as there is nothing by the glass and half a bottle is only available from the Malbec redwine. I was not disappointed. Although the portions are mini, I was amply satiated and had a fine and interesting palate experience. I got 2 white, a red wine and a dry dessert wine from different wine regions of Argentina to drink. Interesting was the home-made bread, which was prepared with kelp flour, the same kelp, which I then tasted fried. The food sequence was well matched, the first, cold appetizer came very quickly. The waiters introduced themselves by name, were attentive, explained each course and the wine. Mineral water and coffee were included, which I did not expect. When the napkin fell down, a new one was immediately presented with cutlery, as is the case in the upscale gastronomy! The place was filled to the last seat, so I would recommend a reservation. Unannounced people were waiting at the bar. I heard in advance that this was the best restaurant in Patagonia. As far as star cuisine is concerned, certainly. The price is very reasonable for European guests visiting Haute Cuisine. You / I will not be disappointed by level! With us, George, the owner and cook, would have at least two stars. He came personally to each table and I got many explanations to the partly unknown food or information about the special processing. It was a special experience that Ushuaia will be never forgotten, not only because of nature but also because of its...
Read moreThis place was great. We did the tasting menu and loved it. We were 3 people. I wish we would’ve shared more of the regular dishes from the menu to get more variety as we like to share, but the tasting menu was great. The “snacks” were all amazing quality (all fish with the exception of a hummus), the sea bass was amazing and had a really great sauce they paired it with. Lastly, the dessert was not something I would not have ordered had I seen the description on the menu, but I am so happy it was a part of the tasting menu as it was so unique. It was a chocolate crumble with roasted almonds, vanilla ice cream, and topped with olive oil. Sounds weird but tasted amazing. We also asked for a wine recommendation and it was great. We ordered 2 bottles. This meal was rather expensive though so I highly recommend considering that before going ($600 usd for 3 people doing the tasting menu and 2 bottles of wine). The rate is much better if you use pesos at...
Read moreThere are better restaurants in Ushuaia! We went to this highly recommended restaurant and were excited to try their food. Unfortunately, it was terrible. The lamb tortellini was dry and the sauce tasted like baby food- bland and mushy. The steak was flavourless and also very dry because it was served already cut in half and the juices had run off. You could also tell that other parts of the steak has been cut away after it had been cooked, so it was strange to see that we only had 2 pieces of a larger steak. Additionally, there was zero smoke flavour to this advertised “dry aged and smoked” steak. We are passionate cooks so it was disappointing to see so little effort put into the food here. On a positive note, the wine list is extensive and the wine we had with the meal was fantastic and was a highlight to an otherwise...
