Hostal Río Ona — Hotel in Ushuaia

This was a place we found from the tourist information center at the airport just after we reached the airport at night after a delayed flight and found it reasonably priced for our budget. The owner was very helpful with our bags and even brought them up to the room for us as I had a problem climbing up the steps. The breakfast was reasonably good and available even past the breakfast time. The wi-fi connectivity was also very good but only in the breakfast room area. Only bad experience was that we had booked the room on our return from Antarctica and though we had not paid in advance he had told us the room would be available for us on the date we told him we would be back but unfortunately when we returned to the hostel we were shocked to see the hostel was full (mentioned on the door) and the door was locked with no one answering the doorbell. After calling up and getting no response, we finally had to look for another place to stay and wasted our money for the taxi that brought us right up the hill where it is located and had to go looking for another place to stay. Luckily we had asked the taxi guy to wait for us so we did not have a problem in getting...

Positive: We had a pleasant stay at the Hostal Rio Ona and can wholeheartedly recommend it. The owner may appear grumply but is indeed very nice and ready to help at all times. The room was cozy, the breakfast was tasty and included the usual ingredients: toast, medialunas and different jams. The Rio Ona is approximately four blocks away from the city centre (Avenida San Martin, where many restaurants and shops are located), is though situated uphill absolutably within walkable distance.. Negative: If one wanted to be picky, one could wish for newer bathroom appliances or a bigger variety regarding breakfast. But in all honesty, we were very happy at...

We spend only one night - the breakfast was a joke - only a croissant and instant coffee...this is not breakfast! And should not be included in the room price! Too expensive! The host couldn't even smile when he talked to us. I tried to be friendly eventhough we were unsatisfied with the place. His wife was very sweet. And we had a good view from the room. That's the only positive thing I can say...
