Went in midday last Sunday and ordered for 3. After ordering we were told it would be a 20-25 minute wait. That time came and went. After 40 minutes there had been no one come and explain the delay. I went to the counter and requested a refund. The person asked for details of the order - he said sorry, they did not realise it had been a 40 minute wait (I am not sure if that makes it better or worse) but said it would take just maybe another 5 minutes or so. There was no offer of another coffee or anything like that.
A person (the owner I think) came over and said in a quite reasonable tone that it was possibly the busiest day of the year for them and the staff were not standing around doing nothing (I never suggested they were). Again no offer of compensation or anything like that.
It was a busy day, but by the time we might have got our food it would have been a 50 minute wait at best.
At busy times there can be delays - but hospitality 101 would suggest that a quick chat with waiting customers or an offer of a coffee or similar would prevent any complaints or ill feeling.
Perhaps we were just unlucky on that day. It has a nice atmosphere, interesting layout, pretty good coffee and free fizzy water.
Anyway we went elsewhere and were eating 15 minutes later.
Thanks for taking the time to respond. Looks like you need a break judging by your response.
Maybe a simple - "we had a bad day, sorry about that but please give us another chance" would have been appropriate.
I was not after anything free. I certainly never asked for anything free at any time.
A wait of at least of 50 minutes may be ok to you but it was not to me. Sure call me entitled for that if it makes you feel better.
As you said - you were out of control. Hardly my problem.
I stand by my comments about...
Read moreWe come here most weekends. Usually for brunch and sometimes a burger at lunch. I cannot fault the food. You have to try the best bird burger.. it's truly delicious. The fries are dusted with a mix of chicken salt and vinegar salt which is very tasty. Service is ok, as it's always busy, the staff don't really have time to engage although, they are always friendly. Coffees are good too. I was however, quite surprised the other day to be charged $24 for an iced coffee frappe and an iced chocolate frappe. 😳 I can purchase a large glass of Shiraz at Cafe Med for $11. When I questioned the manager, he politely explained that everything these days has increased in price. I kept the order because I believe in supporting local small business. I have to admit though, these glasses came out and we're basically cold milk with either Milo or coffee and a shedload of whipped cream on top. When I ordered frappes, I assumed they would come out blitzed with ice. There was no ice cream or ice.. just cream. The manager explained they didn't cost much to make which was perplexing. Lunch was a kids serve of calamari, a burger and two frappes and cost me $68.00 I will continue to go there as I love the food. Obviously there are other costs incurred for staff and overheads.. but I would think a frappe should...
Read moreThis is a new place down at Brighton, I know that cause it's my local. On first appearances the atmosphere looks unique & inviting which was what drew me in, & it was not very busy at the time. I ordered toast & a Mocha & went straight to use the ladies bathroom & this is where it got awkward for me. There were two lots of toilets, just ONE multi purpose use bathroom for women/disability/baby's/children's room ..& ONE 'just' for men with 'both' a toilet & a troff! This means that pretty much anyone, male or female, either with babies, children or a disability can acsess the duel purpose toilet 'yet' all men get to use a bathroom specifically allocated just for them! Someone was using the duel purpose toilet on my waiting (this turned out to be an elderly gentleman who had evident walking problems) who I waited for over ten minutes to vacate. I was pretty frustrated by this point & seating myself at my table my order (which was just for toast & a coffee!) still took another 10 mins to get to me. When it did the toast was cold & soggy & completely inedible. On informing staff of the toast I was refunded. I did see other patrons eating meals that looked inviting & my coffee was good, so I may give it another try in future. I do however feel management need to urgently reassess the...
