Parched followed by stomach ache and strong bowel movements!. Well Sunday was suppose to be a fishing day at Brighton jetty with two good friends followed by a meal along Jetty Road. We didn't do too well with our fishing and decided to get some dinner...its was very busy along this street however we found this place called Cafe Beach Pit...it was relatively quiet compared to the other venues? ....we just sat down because we were starving! My friends wanted Pizza, so we purchased the Italian and seafood special. We waited over 30 minutes to get served, got some cheek from a waitress who had previously been on the Gold Coast and caught Covid over there! however she assured us that she wasn't shedding the virus and was not contagious.... having done the necessary quarantine time!. We eventually got our Pizza's.. not before the waitress started closing the bi fold doors to restaurant. For a moment there we had to question her, if we were going to be receiving our food order. We were very worried because before that another waitress came to take our clean plates and cutlery away before the Pizza's came!? Anyway, we eventually ate and then went home non the wiser. Now this is where the drama starts for me...there was so much salt in the Pizza that I need to drink copious amounts of water before going to bed...my friends all shared the same story and experience this morning with me! We were all PARCHED by the time we arrived at our homes! Come 2.30 am in the morning for me..I wake up with extreme stomach pains and cramps...for sure, it was that Pizza Salt Bomb! I didn't sleep until 4.30 am as I experienced numerous strong bowel movements along with pain...my friends shared a similar experience, however I think mine was the worse! It was that friggen Pizza Salt Bomb I ate the night before! I vowed this morning...never again will I have Pizza from this place! It was just the Pits! Can't give a Zero...
Read moreCome to dine on NYE. Made sure we asked if we could dine as we didn't have a booking. The lady at the front said of course and pointed where we could sit outside. We then ordered and proceeded to wait almost 1.5 hours. This would be completely understandable if people ordering takeaways weren't getting their orders done before ours. At the hour mark we were finally able to wave down a waitress and they said they would check. They didn't. I then went to the main counter and explained it had been well over an hour and asked if we would have to wait much longer. The nice lady that we first come across soon turned and shouted at me 'well did you have a booking' I responded with 'no, but you did say we were more than welcome to eat here' she then shouted at me 'it's coming out now!' In a rude tone. I went to sit down again with my partner and waited only another 5 mins. We got 1 meal and then 10 mins later the rest come out. Unfortunately the haloumi was only half cooked. While we were eating the pasta the people dining next door were telling each other the conversation they had with the lady at the front saying 'how impatient and rude some people have been' also said 'if you want good food you have to wait' that's a bit of a joke. The food is probably worse than my home cooking and I don't enjoy cooking and the wait was ridiculous with no apology from the lady at the front. Very disappointed and will definitely never be dining...
Read moreUsually my hubby & I can't fault this place where we've been regulars for many years, & have often referred & dined many times with friends & family! Unfortunately however our last couple of visits & takeaway meals have left us disappointed. Our most recent visit had our food, entree & mains (Bruchetta & Calamari) arrive to the table well below cafe standards, cold, flavorless & soggy. The cafe was not busy as we arrived at 2pm after the lunch time rush had past. Our entree & main arrived together!? The Bruchetta was just a peice of toasted Turkish bread with nothing but a couple of thin slices of tomato & an overfried peice of rubbery Haloumi cheese slapped on top!? The Calamari was cold, rubbery, soggy & minimally crumbed! I wanted to return the food however my husband was very hungry & did not want to make a fuss. When I asked the waitress if we could add some extras to make the meal a little more palatable the request seemed like too much effort & was met with some hostility. Our extras then still took over 10 minutes to get to us ...& all after I had to ask twice! My drink was fine but hubby said his wine tasted stale & like cheap plonk, & on tasting I had to agree! They seem to do much better evening meals than during the day. I really am sincerely very sorry to say hubby & I won't be returning in a hurry...
