I invited 14 guests here to celebrate my daughters birthday. We were seated upstairs next to the kitchen which was fine and turned out to be convenient for us anyway. The service was not very attentive and every time we needed a drink we would have to call out to staff as they entered the kitchen to be served otherwise we would have gone thirsty. The food I have to say was really delicious it was just a pity about the service. Being as there were 14 of us before ordering I asked if we could tell them what we had eaten at the end and pay the bill this way. I was assured that this was fine. I had called a few days prior to my booking and asked if it was OK if I brought an icecream cake in with us. Sure the guy said we have room in the freezer. On arriving I asked for the cake to be placed in the freezer. When the time came came for the cake the girl brought it out still in it's box for us to remove. I then had to request plates and spoons as these were not given promptly. I then had to ask for a knife to cut the cake and was given a butter knife to cut the cake with. When we started cutting we found that our bomb alaska cake had started to melt so I doubt it had been stored in the freezer at all! We then had to serve a melting icecream cake with a butter knife. You can only imagine what fun this was! When it came time to pay a 698.00 bill i was told that they wouldn't split it like I was told they would and I was told that there was also a 4.00 per person cakeage charge too. A cackeage charge for a cake disaster that they couldn't even put on a plate for us and supply a decent knife nor spatular so we could dish it out nicely! After a bit of a conversation they agreed to split the bill for us but ontop of my share they added an extra 50.00 for a cakeage fee! So dissapointed in this service as they were not transparent at all. I was not told that I would be charged to bring a cake! My guests were shocked by this fee and said that because of the none transparency that they have just lost 14 customers that will not be back just...
Read moreBooked a table for 2 ahead of time. Arrived and was taken to our table, which was crammed in to a very tight corner that had us stuck almost shoulder to shoulder with other people. We ordered 2 anejo tequilas with soda water and a bit of lime. These cost 15 dollars each which was on the pricier side. Unfortunately we did not receive what we ordered, we very clearly received tequila Blanco which was disappointing. Our service was okay but nothing special. We ordered an entree which was delicious but a very small portion size for the price of 17 dollars. Then we got our mains which were good, tasty and decently sized for the price. We were told we had to receive the entree and mains at the same time because they were busier than usual, which is not our fault as consumers, you shouldn't have overbooked your restaurant. We booked a table in advance and we're not walk ins, so being rushed through the experience was very poor. We also ordered a specific cocktail that contained jalapeño juice and what we received was not the same cocktail according to ingredients on the menu. Same with our meals, ingredients like corn chips were on the list, and we only received 2 corn chips which is poor. To top it off we were charged an 11 dollar service fee, yet we did not dine on a public holiday or a Sunday where staff need to be paid more so this makes no sense. Didn't receive any special service either, why am I paying this??? This isn't America, we don't tip here? Pay your staff properly? All in all probably...
Read moreLet’s start with the name: they should say it’s a franchise because having as a name Hecho en Mexico tells that the food is likely to be Mexican, and the truth is that it’s not. The menu has several dishes that do not correspond to Mexican cuisine. Also, selling and serving products as Mexican does not make justice to the final products received, this is also another reason why it should be mentioned in the name and menu as an international mix cuisine between Mexican-American-and-Something else but certainly not only Mexican. I tested several flashship dishes and my conclusion is the same: wrong components and lack of relation with the original dish recipe. Do not get me wrong, as Mexican that I am, I must be strict when testing food that is being promoted as Mexican so I need to either confirm or deny that fact. It’s a nice place to have some Mexican-ish food and spend some good time with friends. The prices are good but the portions are not, while a quesadilla is abundant in size and amount, but the birria tacos contain very thin proportion, it uses wheat tortilla while the original taco must be use corn tortilla and it is not fried. The salsa is not prepared locally, I can detect fresh salsas and the salsa is definitely from a commercial bottle. Very disappointed because the birria is one of a hell dishes back in Mexico and what I tested is definitely far from being called birria. Again, it’s a nice place for people that do not know the Mexican cuisine, otherwise, be advised that you will be...
