Gondola Gondola – Flavour, Flair, and First-Class Service
My recent visit to Gondola Gondola was an absolute delight from start to finish. Nestled in the heart of Adelaide's vibrant Peel Street, the restaurant immediately welcomed me with its energetic atmosphere and beautifully styled interiors that blend modern flair with subtle Southeast Asian touches.
The service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable without ever being intrusive. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel genuinely welcome, setting the tone for what became a memorable solo dining experience.
I began with the Yellow Wontons, which were nothing short of addictive. The delicate chicken and corn filling was perfectly complemented by GG’s sweet vinegar sauce, fresh chilli, and a punchy hit of mama’s chilli oil. Next came the Salt & Pepper Eggplant—a dish that managed to turn a humble vegetable into a showstopper. Crispy on the outside, silky inside, and laced with toasted ginger, spring onion and chilli—it was a standout.
The Dancing Birds—grilled quail marinated in lemongrass, garlic, and chilli—offered rich, smoky flavours balanced beautifully by the sharp citrus dipping sauce. Finally, the Coco Chook—tender grilled chicken thigh with red onion and Thai basil—was finished with a luscious coconut lime reduction that tied all the elements together with tropical finesse.
To accompany the meal, I enjoyed the South East Side cocktail, a refreshing and fragrant blend of gin, lime, sugar, cucumber, and Vietnamese mint. It was the perfect match for the spice and aromatics of the food—cooling, zesty, and utterly moreish.
The overall atmosphere was welcoming and fantastic—energetic without being loud, intimate without being stuffy. Gondola Gondola manages to offer both a refined and relaxed dining experience, even for a solo guest.
A truly memorable meal and one I’d gladly return for. Highly...
Read moreAs a Vietnamese travel all the way from Melbourne to Adelaide, I would highly recommend this fusion restaurant if u want to have a dinner in the city which is just miles away from Rundle mall. yellow wonton (9/10) a little bit sweet, but overall is great with not too spicy sweet vinegar sauce young tiger (10/10) my sister said she would go back to Adelaide just to eat this dish again crispy pork belly (not a fan) the meat is quite dry but the skin is absolutely crispy, however the sauce is so sweet to our liking dancing birds (9/10) it takes time to eat this quail as the meat is small and stuck with the bones, but the meat is tender, seasoning is on the sweet side and it’s best to eat when it’s still hot as it will become dry when it’s cold red piggy ribs (10/10) a very pig portion for us (3ppl) good to sharing, meat is extremely tender and fall out of the bone easily, seasoning is still on the sweet side
Overall, the seasoning of all of the food here is on the sweet side and have a good harmony with the food. Cocktails are not so good since we are not a fan of five spice contained in the cocktail. Have outdoor dining with heater and dog-friendly, staff are outstanding and decoration is amazing.

Arrived 12:47 Ordered 12:53 Food arrived 1:10
Dish: crispy pork belly
The staff were welcoming and friendly as I walked in looking rather clueless - their signage made it easy to understand where to go for food in this unconventionally layed out establishment. I was instantly made to feel welcome.
Staff are knowledgeable on the dishes and will happily describe anything you might experience confusion with. This is not a place to feel afraid to ask questions.
My meal, a freshly prepared crispy pork belly, arrived in 17 minutes from the time of order. It landed on my table hot and, living up to its name, crispy! Additional cutlery were provided in the event of any chopstick ineptitude which I am certain, again, will put an anxious customer at ease.
A great place for people who might want a delicious, quiet lunch; though I can imagine with the high ceilings and open kitchen that it can get quite loud on a busy evening.
The entire time I was made to feel welcome and comfortable; the staff were extremely hospitable and polite, and everything about this warm and inviting place was a pleasure.
I highly recommend...
